cam vs stall question

Ok so I brought it at the track today.14.5 s at 95.3 mph.I still hoped for a little better considering the mods and the cooler temperature. I am blaming the much heavier Impala wheels (15 pounds per wheel at least) and the age and mileage of engine. I will stop here for now. Just wanted to give an update. I also suck at driving at the track.

For a 5.3L with a very small aftermarket cam, and stock stall in a 1987 Cadillac Brougham those are still good numbers. Keep in mind you only went up from a 204 to a 208 intake lobe duration and the lift stayed very close to the same as the LS6 cam, and you probably have as good of better driveability.

Yes driveability is better and that is what matters mostly. It bugs me though that it took a cam, gear and posi rear end to gain 0.8s.

3600-4000 stalls work very well with stock cams never mind aftermarket..., I cant imagine that with an aftermarket cam in a much heavier vehicle that an aggressive stall wouldn't make it a whole new beast by always being immediately in the powerband and never dropping out of it on a shift either.

I have 255-50-17 tires but they are old so I don't think they are very good.

Instead of starting another thread I'll post here. I am now replacing the 5.3/4L60E with a LQ4/4L80E.
So I'll probably have to keep my 208/212 cam since there is not a big market in my area. I would have went with a different cam but funds are tight.
So let's say I swap it to the LQ4. I'd like to get a torque converter. What stall speed would you recommend for this cam? I'd like to get a TC that would suit a bigger cam also, something like a Vinci trucker or a bit bigger but keep in mind it's a heavy car and would rather have some torque left.
Also should I get a triple disc. I know a single is enough for a stock engine with a cam but I read a triple disc might yield up to 1/2 second on the 1/4 mile over the single disc.
Once again my budget is very tight and the exchange rate between the Cdn vs Us dollar is much worse for me. Meaning the money I can afford for mods is even less.
