Going theme this month. Got the wrong Dakota Digital cluster. Didn't want to wait for them to get it, then inspect and ship another, so I bought another one. Should have it this time next week.

Gauges are in, and I'm impressed with the displays and amount of functions.

However, the motor is making a solid 18psi :/

Debating on pulling it and keeping as a spare, or throwing a new pump and pick up o ring on it and see what happens. Luckily, I haven't been driving it too much.

*Note, you can see on the cluster where I set the oil pressure warning.

damn that sucks. have you put a mechanical gauge on the block oil galley? I always do that first before shitcanning the motor. sometimes gunk gets in the top oil psi sending passage.

I'm going to put a mechanical on it this morning. The Dakota digital sending unit is a bad design, takes FOREVER to install and remove. I bet it would be almost impossible to do on a swap where the back half of the motor isn't accessible.

Do you get more PSI when you rev?

May not be the end of the world. I think the spec for it is shockingly low. And you could always run a higher viscosity.

How could is it there in Austin now?

I run 15W40 Rotella in everything I own. It's in the 80's, and no it doesn't rise with rpm's.

Not looking forward to pulling this thing back apart, but that's how it goes...

Well my buddy is giving me an 80k 5.3 pullout that came out of one of his wrecked trucks. Going to drive up to Texas Speed tomorrow and pick up a cam for it.

224R. Picking it up Friday.

Also picked up my new drivetrain. 80k miles, freshly rebuilt 4l60e. Came out of my buddies old Tahoe, he gave it to me for free. Going to keep the trans for another project.

Quick pic of just how clean this motor is internally. I was pretty shocked. Still debating on a cam or just keeping it stock. The motor is disassembled for inspection and I'm putting a new oil pump/pick up o ring/rear main/oil pan gasket.

might as well put a cam and valve springs in it.
I would have done that and install a different torque converter in my truck, if I could go back in time.

Honestly i'm hoping for both. Would be nice to pick up some extra power due to the 4l80, and the lope of a 112 would be cool through my LT's and dumps. Just worried it's going to sound like a sewing machine because I have literally zero sound deadening in the truck.

I haven't built the exhaust yet. I drove up to Georgetown to Texas Speed and picked up a 224r today. Also ordered a set of sbc valve cover adapters. Might end up running a Vic Jr/4150 plate on it.

I've several intake setups where an adaptor to the stock throttle body is bolted to the single or dual plane and then with an old school intake filter sitting on top.
That's pretty cool. Not great for cold air intake, but neat vintage look.
