Default Speedo VSS wire

hey guys, wrapping up my 2000 corvette build and would like to get my factory speedo working.... There is no pcm or body controller in the car anymore. Can I simply hook up the VSS sensor wire directly to my speedometer using the autometer interface module below? Thanks in advance! T

If you've got an electric vss and an electronic programmable speedo then you can hook them together. The module you posted is a GPS speedometer which you can hook your speedo to without the use of any vss at all.

If you've got a factory speedo then I do not think this will work at all.

I think I worded it poorly. I want to wire the autometer module to my factory speedometer. I'll keep researching and update if its different than you say. Thanks for your input.

You might be able to bypass the adapter module all together. I was able to hook the VSS wire directly up to my speedo wire (stock Mazda gauge) by adjusting the PPM with HP Tuners. If you have a tuner, I'd give that a shot before shelling out the cash for the adapter module.

Unfortunately, I don't have VSS sensors anymore. The module would be my only sensor. That being said, I would think the module would work because it is 4000 pulses per mile just like the factory speedo. I'll call Autometer to find out. Thanks!

What about using the front ABS sensor for the VSS?

This would probably work, but you would need some way to get the right ammout of pulses and correct signal. This is not a problem with an adjustable aftermarket speedo, but a factory one will need a 4000ppm signal. This may work http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...roduct_id=126/ If the GPS module works, it would be easier, but I have a feeling it will only work with autometer speedos since that's what their site says. I'll be watching to see if you find out for sure.

Actually, the autometer site says it will work with virtually any electronic speedo.... it does work with 4000 pulses per mile also so I think I may give it a shot. I reached out to autometer but no word yet. Thanks guys!

Autometer answer below:

You can certainly try, however I can not guarantee that it will work. You can connect the signal wire of the 5289 to the Dark Green wire with White stripe at pin # A7 of the factory instrument cluster.
Before driving the vehicle, I would recommend that you try the calibration (as described in the instructions for the GPS module) to see if the module is capable of driving the speedometer (it runs the speedometer up as you push and hold the calibration button on the module). If it is capable of calibrating it, then it will be capable of operation once the module acquires GPS signal when you go to drive it.

I think I will. It is $185 or so..... not too bad if it works, lol. I'll update the thread if I do.
