I've been fighting with my q-jet on my 71 for a while now, and if I wasnt doing the swap I'd take that thing off and light it on fire. After 2 rebuilds, and $500 later its still a pile of caca.

The thick gasket should help some. You could use one of those wood spacers also.

What alternator bracket are you using?

Thanx again. I'm using the corvette accessories. The bracket was $85 alternator $250 power-steering pump $120 balancer $80 used. The TA is getting a 5.3/4l60e. POS 403 collapsed a couple lifters and the owner said Lsx time! It will be my third 2nd gen fbody Lsx swap.

More progress found this 3.5" diesel exhaust. Looks like the *** end after the muffler,bought it for$20 and still have some leftover.

Nice TA. Those Q Jets are one of the best carbs ever made for a street car. I own several and I'm surprised about the boiling comment. I had that issue with the crappy Edelbrock carb I threw in the trash.
