I am going to install mine in my Camaro to try it. It doesn't seem right to have a v6 in a Camaro but best I can tell and figure the power is good and the weight will certainly help. Should make for a fun driver. I wanted a shorter pan as well but for now am going with what I have. This may come out and a v8 go in but time will tell.
Keep us updated this is a fun project.

So it may seem like this thread is lost to the ages, but bare with me. I am picking up the car that this is going in next week. I just rebuilt the transaxle, changing out 3rd and 4th gear ratios to something more appropriate and flipping the ring gear over to work in a mid engine application. The oil pan is about 95% done (I still have to trim the baffle to fit the shorter floor. I was intending to put an LT4 blower on the engine, by shortening the rear of the housing, but after dissecting the transmission, this transaxle isn't going to handle it, so I'm going to shelve that part of the project for a while.

When trying to fit the LT4 blower, did you check the bank offset? I'm really curious did GM alter the bank offset due to split-pin crank or not. In Buick terms, off-center(rods not centered on pistons) or on-center. Maybe you have a picture from sump towards pistons?

There was no change in bank offset on the Gen IV engines. It wasn't changed on the Buick V6 either when the crank was changed from common to split throw.

I was referring to stage blocks(153 was altered bank offset to have on-center design).
If the LV3 design did not change the bank offset from L83 then it'll have to have the off-center rods.

OK, you didn't make that distinction. Sorry.

The bank offset is the same, the ports all line up. What does suck is that they added an extra inch to the front of the engine, so instead of saving 4.4 inches in length, it's really 3.4" shorter, so not really as much of an advantage as I would have hoped. I have not put it back on the stand, to re-attach the oil pan. I need to pick up a tube of yama-bond type glue or whatever sealant they use instead of gaskets in a Gen V.

There was a question about weight.
I finally got mine from the US and with a very simple pallet (~10ft of 2x4) it was 460lbs. Whole engine with exhaust manifolds and wiring. Less alternator, starter and A/C compressor. Oil and half of coolant still in it.

[QUOTE=96 Comp T/A;19973967]So before I went and cut one of these on the mill, I had a friend 3d print one so I could check fitment. Pretty neat! I found a couple of dimensions that needed some minor alterations, so I made those changes. This will use the late LS3 style thermostat, not the LT style.

How did removing the balancer make the motor idle and run?
