Thanks, I really like this car. I sold my 6 sp small block Nova to build this one. We also have a 61 BelAir that has been on 3 power tour long hauls. It is the one that got me into these xframe cars.

I hope to fix my wipers.

Thanks for that post. No wipers on my track only car, but I have a couple more that may need this one day as well as a whole lot of friends I am going to share that link with over on the 348-409 Forum.

Well, it is definitely not the prettiest.. But I got my cross member notched, and the motor back in. Fits soooo much better. CTS-v Oil pan has clearance all the way around it, and the truck intake has about an inch of clearance before hitting the hood (without vortec cover).

What are you x-frame guys doing for a trans x member? Making it or buying it? I am trying to make one but I don't know how to go about it without having to weld the x member to the frame. I would rather have it bolted in case it needed to be moved or removed for whatever reason

I sectioned/cut down the stock crossmember and added stock type frame mounts for it rearward on my 454/TH400 swap 20 years ago.
Later bought a bolt-in crossmember that is sold by Show Cars. I haven't used that one yet, but may try it out.
Street & Performance also make some nice bolt in crossmembers that fit the stock frame mounts.

I ended up making my own for now. I would think this would be stout enough to hold it. It's a hell of a lot lighter than a powerglide. Used original mounts and used parts off the original x member to make it work. Not the prettiest but it will work for now..

This is the crossmember I used in my '61 Nomad wagon. It bolted in with no mods needed.

That one is similar to what I did, although I think I am going to change mine a little eventually. As of right now, my tubing is welded to the front of the mounts. I think I am going to move it to the back, then add another piece of tubing to the front of it and weld a plate between the two for the transmission to bolt to. Would add some extra strength too.

I'm 99% sure they're Sanderson block hugger headers. That's what his dad used and he pretty much copied everything he did on his wagon.
