I do not recommend plugging it off. The easiest way to tie it back into your system is to drill and tap your waterpump and screw in a nipple for the hose to connect to. Here is how I tied mine in.

Mine was plugged off when I got the car with no apparent ill effects, but after reading all the whys and wherefores regarding hotspots etc. I connected it to the top hose with a steam vent T from Stealth Conversions.

Easy done, and looks tidy as well.

I used this to put it inline with my top radiator hose. I got it off of ebay for about half this price, though.

What did you do just add a barb fitting in the port? and the port needs to be up right?

Thanks

Looks like they're even cheaper than that.

I'm really unsure about that screw on top that is on most of those cheaper ones... seems like it could leak eventually, depending on the construction.
I bough one from Stealth Conversions that is one solid machined piece.

Yes, a brass barb from the hardware store, and it doesn't even have to be upright. I used a 90 degree barb so the vent hose lies flat along the radiator hose to the steam tube. My wife has the truck today, but I can post a picture tomorrow.

Damn, I paid too much 2 years ago.

Here is a top-down picture. The hose is directly underneath the upper radiator hose, and turns off to the steam port on the passenger cylinder head.

I got them to send me one of the t's without the air release tap, because I thought it looked neater. It comes with the aluminium hose insert and the right angled brass fitting.

Add a couple of Gates power band shrink fit hose clamps and it would look factory. Paint the fittings black and it would almost go unnoticed.

These clamps look amazing! I've never heard of them before, so check out the clip here.

Jeggs have them for sale, and at under $5 each, not expensive at all.

Beaded and constructed radiator hoses from 1-1/4" stainless tubing and various silicone couplers and Gates Powergrip heatshrink clamps.

I used a slightly more expensive option, but it came with a bleed valve. It ends up being the highest spot in the cooling system, so it's the perfect place to get rid of air bubbles.

Then your regular radiator hose from the stem vent line to the Fragola fitting.

There must be a reason as to why the GM Engineers never tapped a hole on the water pump for the steam vent line. I still do not understand what is the reasoning as to why some of the swaps here show that option. GM always have it going to the radiator. Unfortunately not all radiators that are used on swaps have the steam vent port and this seems to be a good way of accomplishing that.

The 5.3L Trailblazers had the steam vent going to the large diameter heater hose, so we are doing what the GM engineers intended.
