Looks good. Did you ever figure out why the first gear set would not give you a good pattern?

I have no idea, it looked like the pinion was to deep so I moved it out .005 and it got a little better..... The 4th time I moved it out .005 the pattern went off the reservation..... I was a Ford Racing Gear, I have never had a problem with one before but I guess there's always a first time.....

The one I set up this weekend was a US Gear, went in first shot no problems at all....

Finally all back together..... Went through the gear break in cycle, drove it around some Sat and Sun to put it through a couple heat cycles..... Everything seems fine so I reset the cal-tracs and recheck the front end alignment..... I'll probably drive it a some the beginning of the week and get it back out to the track on Wed nite!!!!!

I've been following along and I'm always impressed with your skills. I wish I were half the mechanic you are.

What's up with the Wed night track situation? I'm local and have never been to the track here. I'd be interested in coming by for a bit.

Got it to the track Wed nite..... She leaft harder then ever right up to 1 sec into the pass when it had a catastrophic planetary failure..... It only had a rebuilt 1.76 planetary set, but I still find it hard to believe it gave up off the footbrake..... It leaft on 3.5lbs and was at 18.6lbs at 4 tenths into the hit, it was going to be a good run.....

Here is the carnage.....

Sorry to hear about the trans, good luck with this one. Will the change to the 1.80 make any difference in your times?

From a 1.76 to 1.80 shouldn't make much difference..... Unfortunately I will never know, because it broke on the first pass at this boost level and the tune is still super soft.....

Do you mean it broke on the first pass last time, so you don't have a comparison, or that the just completed rebuild broke on the first pass?

Jay
