Yeah I'll lower it as much as possible and get it closer to the firewall, and what transmission are you running right now booboo37?

And yeah it sucks that I have to modify the mounts, I would of been ahead in the built by now..

Those are some real nice foxbodys, you don't have any built threads?

As far as transmission I'm going with the 60e cause its ready to go but I have a th400 that I want to rebuilt on my own later on, but thats the plan on the end..

talked to one of my friends and he said the issue with the team Z member is when they designed it they made it to fit a bunch of oil pans. Well we know that some of those pans are just to big in the front area which explains why you have all that clearance there.

When he mocked up the 2nd LS k-member he only had the f-body pan at the time.........i think he had to move the motor up so that the steering shaft cleared the dynotech conversion headers that where on his mock up motor.....but at the time i don't think he had a trans on the back of the motor..........if he did it was a th350.

Dave Z posted these pics of the 2nd design LS fox k-member......about 1 year ago..

Can anyone tell if theres a trans on the back ???

Also i think i might be right about moving the motor up to clear the steering shaft with the Dynotach conversion headers...

The engine is sitting way too high. That oil pan needs to be very close to the rack (1/8"-1/4") for the engine to be in the correct spot. The one's that I've been doing, I use the sbf k-member, and make my own mounts. The first one that I did took less than an hour to make them. I put the engines as far back as they'll go and still be able to remove the cylinder heads, and about 1/8" away from the rack. I also use sbf headers with adapter flanges. I've used bbk's and kooks with great fitment.

I just got mine today, ill probably test fit everything this weekend but I called and asked dave jr about fitment issues with a 4l60 he said "it should fit". im not sure what ill do if it doesn't fit because it looks like a really nice piece compared to the AJE (which is why I bought it).

with the team z k member, you will either have to make new motor mounts or modify those to get the engine down and back where it should be. And if you dont and change to a th350 or 400, the angles are gonna be all jacked up. There are people on here who have had trouble getting things to line up leaving the engine that high. Hope you get it figured out....

If you click on the link that BooBoo37 posted about on page 1, you will see the problems with the engine fitment. SSSTANG#1 had a heck of a time getting his engine down into the cradle where it should be. He had to make his own motor mounts,(which he shows), and how well it all went together and sat in the engine bay once he got it back in. The team z k member is a quality piece but if you keep it , be prepared to make engine mounts. As high as your trans sits, i can only imagine what your driveline angle would be. Get yourself 2 piece's of metal for a template, drill and mount those to the side of your engine. Lower it down against the k member and measure and make the 2 mounting tabs for each side. Maybe an hour long process and the engine will be right where it should be. Oh and your driveline,u joints will thank you for it later. Dont forget to get that engine back some too. Good luck And your right, there are alot of very smart people on here. They have helped me tremendously!! Dont forget to post up new motor mount pics! = )

So I should be alright by placing the engine and trans to the AJE trans cross member and making the new mounts with the engine as low as possible... We'll see how this goes, too bad its gonna end up with some fugly engine mounts instead of the nice looking team z mounts... lol

I was right....the motor sits up that high so that the steering shaft clears the Dynatech conversion headers....

So if you lower the motor your going to have to make headers.....unless you go turbo.....or use a th350 - 400 or power glide trans......But i think the motor and trans will be sitting at the wrong angle ?

I would try and return it before you try it.......even if you have to pay the return shipping, hopefully theres no restocking fee...

But if you try it and have the same problem then we know its a problem with all of them.......good luck..... :~}

So Team Z, who has some of the fastest stock suspension cars in the country doesn't know how to position an engine in the correct angle and position?
