1987 Supra Swap
but needed a good excuse to bail on Xmas activities...

Engine/trans is now out, clutter out of the engine bay removed and most of the Toyota harness deleted of the non essentials.Grabbing the engine tomorrow, then deciding on which transmission to use
have a turbo 400,700R4 or 4L60E to choose from,also have a 4L80E but crap,its a 4x4 unit,I guess I'll save it for the next one.

Ive been taking pics however no build page yet, id figured i would wait until i get close to turn over time before i begin posting.
my car is an 89 NA targa top and ill be using a r154 5 speed

The pile on the left is what I think I will need of the original harness

2004 5.3 just will open it enough to swap the pan and intake and a quick peek inside, might just need a camshaft

This is what really needs a LS swap, original 1974 L48 with a tire shredding 165 horse under the hood, one of the weakest suck Corvettes ever built, but on a sunny day one tends to forget about that...

Looks like its time to beat that transmission tunnel into shape,,CTS-V manifolds will need just minor adjustments, fabbing up some mounts looks easy at this point.

Transmission and engine mount butchery, uses stock 4L60E cushion.

[/URLIt takes too long to get parts shipped out here, especially with the holidays,so grab some rusty steel plate and get to it.More scrap steel
will be welded up to the stock mounts.

More gussets, grinding,de-burring and painting to be done later

Hack up Toyota shift linkage, mix in a pile and weld it together, then bend and tweak as required, this will take a bit more altering but should do the job.

Now on to the next challenge,ah screw, it just polish the alternator and cut a hole in the hood.

Never realized how high and how big these truck brackets and alternators really are once that tall truck intake is pulled off.

Shouldn't be too difficult, lop off the top part of the truck mount, fab up a couple of plates and spacers to move the idler and alt down and to the left, and I'll use the much smaller Supra alternator and save this one for my next truck.P/S hoses look simple, possibly just cutting down the Supra pressure hose and reflaring/adapting a Chev tube and fitting to it.
Might consider ditching all the truck bracket BS and moving to Fbody accessories. The alternator sits low on the driver side on mine.
parts than I have spent on this project so far.For the $500-700(Canadian $ is almost back on par with the peso again) the nice stuff would cost me,I can cut, drill and tap a lot of aluminum or steel plate.Don't worry, the alternator won't be sticking out of the hood (it would be fun to watch the faces of the horrified onlookers for about two minutes though) the cops around here would have this thing loaded onto a flatbed and the plates cut off the second one of them caught sight of it...

Grabbed a driveshaft off the rust pile in the backyard, amazing sometimes how these things fit together, got the run out down to a reasonable amount,if it shakes too much I'll at least have something for the driveshaft shop to work with.

Chop,chop.

Some clean-up and grinding to go,actually slips inside nice.

Had to open up the left manifold exit to fit the 5.3 donut, used a couple of header reducers and a pair of flanges off the old Supra exhaust.

Had to spring for a couple of Thrush mufflers, cheap and shorter(13") than your usual, just enough space for them to tuck in ahead of the diff x-member

There is room for tailpipes, but I'll just go with annoying turndowns for now.

No polished stainless, tig welded, billet beauty here, just backyard exhaust butchery.

Now its time to pull the engine and trans, prep, seal and throw some paint at the pile of parts, then on to wiring and plumbing.

Building a harness out of all the harness odds and ends I have dragged back the last couple of years.

Engine and trans in the car for the last time,hopefully...
