I know my Mustang is a different year (96), but I was able to get the factory speed working using a Dakota Dig box, the tach works too but reads wrong b/c I had a 6 cyl car. But another Dakota box will take of that too.

Just need to trace some wires and you can get it all working. I looked into the Autometer gauges, but what about the turn signals, high beams, brake, etc???

All the exterior lights are controlled by the body wiring harness, not the engine harness. All that gets left stock.

I can afford to do it. That's all the justification I need personally.
The roller was pretty expensive, but fit what I was after perfectly.
Everyone has their opinions of it and I can respect that entirely. I knew it would be a bit "controversial" but at the end of the day it's parked in my garage and I get to enjoy my ideal car.
That is as good of a reason as any. I sure as hell like working on LS stuff much better than any modular. They take up little space and make the powa.

Like you said, it is your car so build it the way you want because that is all that matters.

Going to but the iron block build on the back burner. Had some things come up that take priority for now.

But, I can't let the project sit so I'm gonna do a mild build on the LS6. Hoping to put it together Friday.

Bought a set of 243s, a tick cam package, rod bolts and some little stuff. Hoping to make decent power for now relatively cheap.

Making power cheap is what LSx is all about. What cam did you go with?

That cam will get that LS1 moving for sure. Very good choice on going with Martin and Tick. Those guys are really great for the LSx community.

Little trouble with tick, not really their fault but I ended up switching my cam choice so hopefully it'll be here this weekend. Going to start painting parts and putting the motor back together.
243s came in today, haven't had a chance to look at them though

Keep us updated. I'm really digging this build. You should throw this up on SVT Performance and watch the fireworks go off.

Still qualifies as cam only in the LS world.

Accomplishment of the day

Just have to modify/replace the shifter handle and find a boot

Got the passenger side header on, I'd be lying if I said it took more than 5 minutes. Never hear a GM car owner say that haha

Will do the other side once the hydraulics are sorted out

This is proving problematic

Although I've got an Fbody radiator and fans as a fallback plan, I'd really like to make this stuff work

Definitely getting closer. I've got all this week off to work on it. Hopefully hear it turn over at some point

Unless you're going to tap in a steam tube port in that box also, just toss it and put in the f-body radiator (if it will fit). Or relocate it to the side, it's just connected by a hose.

You could sell that reservoir and recoup some of the cost.

The Fbody does fit. But its last resort. My plan is to move it to the drivers side and extend a couple hoses. We'll see how that goes. The steam port has to be incorporated somehow as well

Well the fast just doesn't work. Neither does the Fbody radiator. Fixing one issue just has a domino effect through the rest of the engine bay. So I think I'll be selling the fast and trying something different. Will allow me to use the factory Ford radiator, fans and a lot of the associated components.
Tried out a Vic Jr and elbow today, clears up every fitment issue and I don't hate the way it looks like I thought.

Have a couple options I'm still looking at, and a large summit order that is either missing parts or contains the wrong parts. So it's all gotta go back.
But hey, they gave me a hat so I guess all is forgiven.

Routed the rest of the fuel system, finished the charging harness, and rounded up the rest of my sensors. At least I made some sort of progress.

Going to have to make my own shifter as it hits the console on 2,4,6 shifts.
