Project ElcoCuy: LS1 El Camino
Hows it goin everybody, ive lurked around this board for some years now, soaking up all the information i could, figured id finally post my project.. its a 1986 Chevrolet El Camino.. bought the car about 4 years ago.. put some 15x8 rallys on it, and drove it as is for about a year,

Eventually i came across a 20k mile ls1 out of a wrecked '02 SS. So i started purchasing things to make the swap easy and all at once. First thing i ordered was the g body swap kit from BRP..
Then the Holley LS swap pan..
Fuel Pump, Regulator, and braided line and -AN fitting
ordered the headers through BRP as well, Hedman Husler, went with the shorty's because they were alot cheaper at the time...
Everything ready to swap, i actually sold the stock harness, and purchased one from speartech along with an unlocked cpu..

Its still mated to the 4l60e..i strongly considered running a 6 speed, but the transmission was still with the motor, and i would have had to find pedals and linkage, on top of another transmission, so i ran with what i had..
Swapped a 99 ls1/ t56 into my 83 back in 2002' before you had all this engine swap stuff available. Gradually been updating a few things, such as making my own intake & headers right now. Pics in photobucket link.
Your 02' should have the ls6 intake & possibly even ls6 heads, so that's a nice plus for you. Definitely a project worth doing.

stripped it down to bare metal to begin body work this weekend, got rid of the trim i had originally planned on keeping, also decided to use roll pan/ smoothie bumper instead of original bumpers, so those should be ordered soon...
