Default New turbo lsx project

I just picked up my new project this weekend. Its a 1984 cutlass supreme. I will be looking to do a LSX swap running e85 with a large turbo backed by a 4l80e and 12 bolt or 9 inch rear. I will be looking between an lq4 6.0l or a 5.3l, it depends on the funds and whats available. Im gonna fully strip the car and go with a fiberglass dash, hood, trunk and doors with a full cage. My goal is just a budget track car that fits in a local car show (not looking to win any trophies).

I burnt down the v6 and trans on trying to get the car home, but it did make it home under its own power. Ill try to post pics as the build goes along.

Man that thing looks to be in real good condition.
I really like the way the G bodies drive. Good luck with it.

Good luck on your build and enjoy.

Good luck with the swap, waiting on my 5.3 to get back from the machine shop and I will be getting started on mine. Lots of info to be had here. If you haven't yet check out the G-body swap thread, just about anything you would want/need to know is probably in there.

I finally got around to mocking up the bare block i have. Its a lq4 block. The car has changed quite a bit since I first posted. It has been fully stripped and is now just a frame and body. Here are some pics of the progress below:

I bought an 86 a couple months ago and have very similar plans. I also daily a Z71 Sierra lol. Mines an 09 though.

Only thing I've done so far is pick up an 8.8 with disc brakes. Probably start tearing the car down in another month or so. Are you building the motor or stock bottom end?

I plan on doing a forged rotating assembly with a k1 crank and rods with forged weisco pistons. I am most likely going to do the 408 stroker kit. Engine is a pretty long way down the road for me right now. My plan is to get the chassis, rear end and suspension all in line then get the engine going. I keep going back and forth on doing a back half or just narrowing the rear frame rails. I fell like I've taken it down this far I would be disappointed if I don't do the back half. I guess funds will ultimately dictate what gets done.
