Engine sources Those of you that are doing LS engine swaps for a living, where are you sourcing your engines? They are apparently gold plated here. Its hard to find one with under 100K for less than $3000.
We had to replace a 5.3 in a buddy's Tahoe, got a complete motor from a salvage yard/parts house for less than $1K.

Bow Auto in New Hampshire. LKQ nationwide. Ebay. Got a 5.3 from Bow Auto with everything for $750 (140k) and an LS2 from LKQ for $3200. LS2 came with headers that I was able to sell for $700, so I got very lucky. Deals are out there you just have to keep looking

You can find 5.3's quite reasonably in my area for 1-2K but they are everywhere. The 6 and 6.2 liters bring big money when you find low mileage examples. The salvage yards know they can get it and people continue to pay stupid money for them.
