Default Flexplate/crank help.

I've search for this problem until my eyes are blurry.
I'm having issues with getting the flexplate bolted to the engine. The crank snout is interfering with the socket so I can't tighten the correctly. The engine is a 2003/2004 lq4. Here are some pictures to hopefully help understand my problem.

Use a thinner wall 12 point socket.

Yea try a 3/8th drive socket or have a 1/2" drive socket turned down a bit to clear.

...or use the factory hardware. I've never experienced or heard of a failure with the factory hardware.

For the thinner socket trick, try cheap (typically imported) non-impact sockets from your local overseas junk tool dealer.

Also, did you put some thread sealer on the threads? The LS crank bolts are drilled through so you will get oil weeping through the threads without thread sealer. OEM bolts have the thread sealer already on the bolts.

Yep, ARP recommends Loctite 242 blue on the instructions for those bolts for sealer.

Thanks for the reply every one. No, I haven't used thread loc yet, still just mocking everything up to check fitment. I ended up buying a kobalt 12 point set and that seemed to work.
I have another quick question for you guys about torque converter engagement. I've included pics to help hopefully in the next reply.

Does this look right? And can I just pull te converter out to meet up, or do I have another issue I need to address?






This is of the converter sleeve, do I need to remove this?
