Default Adapter Plate Question

Gathering parts for my 64 with a 6.0. Planning on using the Holley 302-2 for needed clearance. Also looking at Dirty Dingo for adapter plates. I understand the versatility of the slider plates but are they really needed as compared to their solid plates with 3 mount locations?

Default Adapter Plate Question

I have the Holley retrofit pan in my 72 Cutlass and I went with Doug Headers adapter plates. I guess the sliding and three location ones give you more options if you're not sure where you want it to be. My adapter plates had two location spots for mounting. I looked at some similar builds to see where I needed to mount the engine wither it needed to been mounted in the stock sbc location or farther back. A lot of it is also depends on how much room you have in your engine bay. My engine almost sits against my firewall.

I used the Dirty Dingo 3-position plates in a 70 Nova and it allowed plenty of adjustment to mount the engine where you want it. They are quality pieces.

Also, I think the CTS-V oil pans are popular in A-Body swaps. Dont quote me though.

I'm not to familiar with the ctsv pan, but have seen some of the Chevelle crowd have success with the 302-2.

I used a f-body pan with eBay 1" setback plates. I did mount everything to the engine (plates, mounts, and frame stands) and set them into the frame marked my crossmember and drilled new holes for my frame stands.

Other notables I originally had the LH8 pan and had to trim the "bosses"on the front and it still hit my steering. And you can slide a piece of paper between my map sensor and firewall. Got lucky there cause I mocked it up without the intake. I have f-body acc. and had to trim the alt to clear my rag joint.

Have fun pulling the trans if you ever need to do a clutch job!

Just gotta pop the intake off, still easier than pulling the distributor.
