Fired up but I am sure the intake is sucking air. Starts and stumbles but will rev. Pulling it tomorrow. Only a couple of things with the harness I wish were a little different is where they split to the opposite banks, make the split about 6 inches closer to PCM. A little tight on one side or the other. I would rather there be a little slack in the rear where it can be hidden, but it is still a very nice piece and looks super clean tucked under the injectors. Almost looks like there is no wiring on the engine.

Finally, so took the intake off today and sure enough it was not sitting on the heads fully. The valley cover bolts were holding the bottom of the runners off the gaskets. Cut about 1/8" off the head of the bolts and reinstalled everything. FIRED RIGHT UP and ran smooth. Exhaust has a really good deep throaty sound for being an off the shelf Summit kit with their brand mufflers. Going to keep plugging away and get the rest of the wiring done and dash in it so hopefully this weekend take it for a little drive.

Sorry for the poor video quality, I took it as a text message.

Congratulations! Amazing how nice that feeling is. All the effort is finally paying off. Sound good, glad to hear you are happy with exhaust, I hate spending time and money not knowing if you'll be happy or let down.

Thanks. The frustrating thing was so much time spent chasing the problem that nothing else got done. Owner is stoked again so that is even better.

Intake tube with filter all done. Even added a bracket to the front of the head.

Shift rod from steering column to trans all done and works pretty good.

So finished up some wiring for the fan and halo rings in the headlights.

Also wired the tach feed and speedometer feed from the PCM but the tach is not reading for some reason.

Swapping the old springs for new UMI 2" drops in the rear, big difference.

New stance is much better.

Yeah love the first burn out. Not even gonna start with the rear. Looking forward to having this gone so I can get the S10 back up and going.

What frame mounts did you use?

Did you have to make any modifications to the trans tunnel or the transmission crossmember for the 4L60E to fit/mount? I'm LSX swapping my 66' Skylark convertible now. Thx

Just drilled new holes for trans crossmember to frame. If it was mine, I would have built the crossmember but he wasn't looking to spend any money.

So would you suggest the small block Chevelle frame mounts over the Big block?

I can't really suggest one over the other as for frame side. I will tell you that I wish he would have order the motor plates like the ICT Billet that are adjustable. I would suggest getting both SBC and BBC frame mounts and return the set you don't use.

I have the ICT Billet adjustable mounts already. Just want to make sure I have the right mounts before I drop it in. Right now, I just have the stock 310 Wildcat mounts in there. But I don't want the 4L60E jammed up against the firewall either.

If you scroll through I believe there is a photo of the firewall clearance which was about 2.5" on passenger side and still had a ton of room for the tunnel. I took the set that was originally on the frame and cit the buckets down and tried them but he didn't like how low it sat so ordered what he thought was right which moved it to far forward so the Mast pan just touched the inner tie rod ends. Headers not fitting was another issue but ended up with manifolds anyway.

Complete dash mocked up. Looks really good but I have an idea that may be a slight improvement.

I'm doing the same dash swap in my 66' Skylark now. I made mine just like yours. I'm going to try and wire it up, but I don't know what wires are what from the factory speedo pigtail. Do you have a diagram of how you wired yours up? Thanks

Go to Lt1swap.com under wiring harness info and choose your year. From there you will find the pcm pinouts for tact and Speedo, assuming you are using GM electronic transmission. For water temp and oil pressure, the dash came with senders. Fuel level was tied to new 18 circuit vehicle harness.
