Got a great score today. Was at U-Pull it looking for a few small parts for my Jeep when I decided to go look at the Full Size truck area and found this in the back of a Suburban packed nice and neat in a box, not the cat the harness and ecu. I know how observant you guys are. Paid $15.00 plus my $1.00 to get in.

Picked my block up today and going to start putting everything together in the morning.

Nice score on that harness! Are you going to strip it out yourself, or send it out?

I am going to do it myself. It is missing a few plugs, so i am going to trace everything out and replace them.

Who do you guys recommend to send the ECU out to?

I don't want to take away from the vendors on here. But I used lt1swap. $75 bucks that includes shipping.

Won't be a hi power tune. But it'll remove VATS, secondary 02, match your rear gear ratio,

I used his site for the wiring harness info as well. He has a Metric sh*t load of information on the harnesses.

Also, find out the year of the suburban that the PCM came out of. you'll need this info and if your using DBW you'll need to go back and grab the pedal and TAC box it's attached to.

I have an intake for DBC I am going to put on it. The box was in a 2001 Suburban so I am guessing that is what it came out of.

Also ran into a problem, I am going to take off the mains and check everything out. I can turn the crank by hand for about half a turn and then it snugs up. I can still turn it but its tight. Here is a short video.

Bust out the feeler gauge and check clearances from rod to main caps. If your making it half way. Could be a bent rod in one if the cylinders.

Rods are not in. It is just the crank. I am pulling it apart this morning to see what I find and going to take to the guy who did my machine work. I can turn it completely around, it just tightens up half way around and then stays tight.

Well took it all apart and checked out the bearing out, Everything looks great, no unusual marks or scoring. Cleaned everything decided to re-plastigage the mains. Everything came out perfect, same as I got yesterday. Took everything back apart and cleaned everything up for the final time and now everything turns without a problem.

Guess tomorrow I will get the rings on the pistons and short block put together.

Good to hear its all good.

I'm waiting on the machine shop to get back with me on boring mine to 3.905. Then I'll be headed down the same road. Might lean on you since your ahead of me.
I'm using Clevite std main bearings (MS2199P)

Thought that I would create an account and see where this all goes. I have a 96 GMC that I am thinking about dropping a LS in. I currently have the 4l60e, would I need to swap it also or would it work with an update PCM?

Also, I found a sight that sells LS's. I'm not going to post the name since this is my first post but I can get a engine, tranny, and harness for 2500 to the front door. My truck has 270,000 on the odometer and was looking at just rebuilding the 4.3 liter when the time came but this is such a better option. Loads more power and you know all the reasons thats why your doing the same.
