The Holley 302-2 pan is 1.25" tall along its front section and barely clears the inner tie-rod ends when installed with the Hooker A-body engine brackets. The AutoKraft pan is 1.75" tall along its front half and so will experience guaranteeed interference with the inner tie rod ends, when used with the same Holley engine brackets.

There's nothing new to report on the El Camino/convertible crossmember at this time. I'm stalled out on it until I can get access to the test car that's being used at another Holley facility here in Bowling Green to validate the fitment of the pre-production prototype I posted earlier. It's in my plans to get it done as soon as possible, but the work of others has been conspiring against my efforts.

If anyone needs the hooker ls forward engine mounts and trans cross member for a 4l80e PM me. I haven't used them yet and I wont be able too because after tearing the Chevelle apart I needs way too much body work. I figured I would ask here before I pu them on the classifieds. I will sell both at a decent price. I also have all the c5 corvette accessories if you need them also for the swap.

Thanks,
Jason

Does the full length header exhaust system have an option for free flowing cats right after the header?

No off-the-shelf option for running converters was provided for in the development of the system.

I would think that it would be fairly simple for a competent shop to splice in converters after the headers.

todd,

This is a general question for the oil pan, 302-2.. the instructions state that an ls3 dipstick is required for the pan instillation 12634547 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/n...commendedparts and seems to be discontinued and replaced with this part number https://www.summitracing.com/parts/n...commendedparts 12669528. should i pursue looking for a 12634547 dipstick or could i purchase the 12669528 dipstick provided in the links?

The current dipstick and oil pan on the engine are zl1 pan, zl1 tube and stick.. ( LSA CRATE )

thanks again, i plan on purchasing the whole system for my 1972 Pontiac Lemans LSA swap

answered my own question! 12669528 is an acceptable dipstick to use as a replacement!

I also just received my holley 302-2 oil pan in the mail today, what a piece of art. Unfortunately, the 71221006HKR forward position ' A ' mounts are not available until late june per the person i spoke to with Holley today.

Can you think of any issues using the forward mounts in my 71 cutlass with an LH6, f-body pan and 4L80? I want to keep the air and the stock intake. From what I've read I can use the stock trans crosmember right? I'm planning on using the stock manifolds with a small turbo.

Anyone with this combo can you tell me what length driveshaft you needed?

Thanks

I can tell you for certain that the F-body pan won't work with the Hooker forward bias brackets as the sump is too long at will experience major interference with the engine crossmember. You may get the stock trans crossmember to work through modifications, but it will be a PITA to install or remove due to the gussets located at the mid-point of the frame.

Well that throws a wrench in my plans. I'm sure the 302 pan is very nice but is there something I can get by with on a budget?

There's none that I'm aware of that will allow the sump the clear the back
of the engine crossmember and the front profile to clear the inner tie rod ends at full steer. I don't spend any time searching the web for pans with similar geometry, so there maybe something new out these days that I'm not aware of. You could also notch the sump on a stock F-body pan to clear the crossmember, but that would come at the cost of reduced oil capacity.

Not much has happened since I pushed the convertible crossmember release back behind a few other projects I've been working on. I hope to complete the process for getting it into our system this month.

As of right now, no, as you would need the same crossmember that I've been working on for the convertibles.
