DR44G wiring?

Default DR44G wiring?
I've read many conflicting threads on how the DR44G is wired and operates: self regulating at 13.8v, excited by pin 15 on the 411, pulse width modulated, etc...

Can someone please give me the definitive answer on how to wire this thing? I'm running a 03 Yukon PCM so I can use it to run the alt if that is the correct way.

Pin 15 on the RED connector is the wire for alternator control on the PCM's yes. I don't know what alternator that is but if it's a factory GM replacement then you are correct in your assumption.

PCM controlled is going to give a better chance for the alt. to be best-regulated to maintain steady voltage for injectors to fuel accurately. ECMs have had fuel mapping adjustment based on voltage in the past for a reason. Go PCM controlled.

The ECM in your 03 Yukon may not have the setup in your PCM to run the DR44G with the 2 pin regulator. What came stock in your Yukon? You can convert the regulator to a 4 pin if you need to.

Not entirely sure as I only am using the PCM, harness (modified for stand alone), Tac module and pedal from the Yukon. It was a 1500 with the Flex Fuel 5.3L with a smaller looking alternator than the Dr44G. I have the VIN off the Yukon so I suppose it could be looked up. Might have the original alternator plug in the bag of wiring that that I pulled from the harness when thinning for stand alone. The PCM was flashed by Brendan from LT1swap.com, not sure if that matters for Alt control.

That will tell the tale. I would venture to say it is most likely a 4 pin plug and therefore does not have PWM.

Do you have a DR44G alternator now?

That alternator will not need to have anything plugged in to charge. It will only charge at 13.8 Your ecu does not have the ability to control it.

I have been running that alternator on dads chevelle for 5 years with no issues without it plugged in
