c6 ps pump/hydroboost/gear box
In need of assistance, setup: c6 power steering pump, astro van hydro boost and s10 steering gear box,
I have everything routed according to the bottom pic, prior to start up i topped off the reservoir, ran for about 10 seconds shut down and topped off again run for about 3 to 4 mins and the pump is too hot to touch, anyone have any ideas of what i may have done wrong or should start looking into?

Ill check today after work, after doing some reading last night im thinking the dexron isnt right for the pump, going to flush it and try some power steering fluid and hope i didnt trash a brand new power steering pump

Ok so replaced dexron with gm spec fluid now when truck is off and in the air turns easy, as soon as i crank it up i cant turn the steering wheel at all its like i have fluid pressure pushing against each other not allowing the wheel to turn at all

I found rotating the wheels all the way left, then all the way right, with the vehicle in the air, lid off reservoir, about 20 times, got the air out of the system. What is the PSC piece in the diagram? I assume it was just an extra thing on the diagram? Sounds like your pump is running if you cant turn the wheels with the truck in the air.... Maybe return/pressure lines swapped on gear box?

You will need a cooler with a setup running steering box hydro assist and a hydroboost would also look into a large volume reservoir the pump my also be inadequate for this setup

The power steering hydraulic lines have a much heavier wall. Eaton (who owns Aeroquip) makes -6 AN, assemble yourself lines.
Take a look at page 27 of this catalog. I used the FC300 hose with the assemble-it-yourself fittings, which assemble in the same way as conventional AN.
