Default LSA blower on a 5.3?

I found this on another forum. The owner states it is a 5.3. I have never seen or heard of this. Is it possible?

Yep, but the LSA is rectangle port, 5.3s cathedral port. Adapter plates are now available.

Yes, I know the heads are different, hence the reason I asked. I haven't heard anything on the adapter plates. I'll check them out, thanks!

I thought the bore was too small on anything under 4 inches for square port heads. Who makes adapter plates?

I know theres a a c10 that just got dyno tuned in sc that had a 5.3 with a lsa blower, he was using mast small bore ls3 heads. Real nice hardware but at almost $3300.00 for just heads, kinda pricey.

Idk about the adaptors, they look kinda sketchy but mast motorsports has ls3 small bore heads 3.890" for ls1/6. For bare heads only are like $1999, after you get them with all the goods they end up totaling out to 2800 from the website but another guy had $3300 in his set of heads.

I looked at those heads a long time ago and had a difficult time spending more on a pair of heads than I had invested in the entire driveline. Sounds like a good deal for guys chasing horsepower / torque numbers though.

I have a 5.3 with an LSA blower in the pipeline. After I finish some bodywork, I'll post some pictures of the 5.3 LSA engine. It is a lower budget build. I am using the adapter plates, aluminum 5.3 block from a Trailblazer (only cleaned up and painted - no rebuild needed), Camaro pan, heads were reworked by TSP. LSXConcept brackets for the blower. I built the engine for a turbo and decided to try the LSA. Sounded like a good idea at the time.

This is what is looked liked after I prep'd it for the turbo. The Holley intake has already gone to another good cause as part of the LSA swap. Only parts I'm missing are a different water pump for the brackets, LSA damper and LS9 valve covers. I haven't figured out if the cam for the turbo can be used. I'll find out if it works.

couple questions about the adaptors. Do they bottle neck the flow? How do they fit, did you have to machine them or any modification to them? Just curious.

Why not just get a 2.3L/2300 positive displacement blower from Magnusson/Whipple/Kenne Bell/etc with the cathedral port lower manifold? I do not understand this LSA/ZL1 blower onto 5.3 idea......

It's all about the price. The LSA can be done for 1/2 of the other PD blowers.

I'm with you. Maybe sell the 5.3 if you already have it and are set on using an LSA supercharger. Get an LY6. Inexpensive, plentiful, and have rectangular port heads to work with the supercharger.

Have to ask, Why?

Seems to me there is nothing budget about a blower build. if you are going through the expense of a blower will it really break the budget to start with a larger bore bottom end?

I could understand the cost of the adapter plates if displacement was limited by some class rule.

I'll be into my new not used supercharger swap for about $3,000-$3,800 but it is going on an LY6 6.0 so no adapters needed. I have less than $700 in my 18,000 mile engine/trans but I also stumbled onto a hell of a deal. The same motor would cost you $1500 and up so it does add quite a bit to the cost and the fact that with the adapters he won't be pulling the engine he already has.

To anyone buying these superchargers don't forget why GM is replacing the whole supercharger and not just replacing the failing coupler, When the couplers fail they wear the shaft on the supercharger and the metal from the shaft end up contaminating the supercharger bearing and the bearing will eventually fail. You might get lucking and get one that hasn't had the chance to cause any damage but that's the chance you're going to take.

You will also want to price everything needed because the supercharger itself is only a small part of the cost. I paid $1475 for a new supercharger with fuel rails/injectors/sensors/bypass valve and $387 for a new ZL1 lid. The rest of the money is all the stuff needed to make it all work. Just the supercharger/accessory drive is going to run you anywhere from $800-$1500 depending on what you use. Choose carefully because there are some systems on the market that are poorly designed and you'll likely end up with belt slip. I'm going to use a combination of stock CTS-V supercharger drive and corvette A/C bracket and Holley corvette alt/ps setup.
