Ok, made more progress last night and tonight!

Tore the blower apart and replaced the isolator with a solid version from Speed Inc. once the damn snout came off (a ball joint tool works well for separating it) removing the old sealant with a razor blade, cleaning then reinstalling was pretty straightforward.

That's it for tonight...pretty happy with the progress I am making...I will be pulling the trains and having it freshened up...even tho it was supposed to be a low mileage rebuild, the color of the fluid and smell when I installed the HD2 shift kit has never left my mind...more to come!!!

Been quite a while since my last update. I have a ton to go over, but have been a bit under the weather lately. Decided to update a video. Hopefully this will answer your questions:

Will be adding more info/still shots of all the great stuff that is on going into the car.

Update as promised!

I can say as of tonight (minus supercharger oil) that my engine is complete! Crank was pinned last week and the remaining accessory parts attached. Finalized belt lengths and purchased a small amount of hardware needed to attach things like the steam vent tube, etc...

I'm doing a similar build, but with a 6.0 in a foxbody coupe. what size injectors did you use? I scrolled but I didn't see if you put a cam or pulley on either?

Great work!

Thanks! I got a great deal, almost by accident, on a brand new set of Injector Dynamics 80lb injectors which you are right, I said nothing about...haha. They should be more than adequate for what I want to do.

No pulley yet. I wanted to wrap my head around a baseline for this thing but it does have an LS9 GM grind from ADM performance.

Hoping to be able to fire this thing up in less than a month (being realistic with my available time...haha)

I actually do a bit of work in that area but for reasons different than what most folks would care about on any given day. I think there are definite advantages to adding nanotechnology to coatings from wanting conductivity to hydrophilicity. My only concern is that a lot of people today pedal their product with "advanced technology" at its core and there really wasn't anything special that differentiated them. For me, I do a lot of work with carbon-based nanomaterials and MAX phase metallics. For me it is all about conductivity within the coating and what it can do for me when I add it to plastics and thin films.

For you, you'd probably care about polymeric nanomaterials and how it can strengthen the coating while maintaining flexibility and rejecting water. Be careful, you're gonna get to start geeking out in this stuff...so fascinating to me!

Good luck on your build too! I see you're a fellow LSA'r!

That's a lot of injector for your combo! Should be plenty to grow in to.

Well, time wasn't on my side this past weekend but tonight officially hit the motor back in the car. Had to pull the blower lid and get fancy with some chain but it just barely cleared the fender and got like a glove.

Got the Trans back last weekend and all all my brakes from Kore3 this past weekend so I am swamped.

Again, I have to praise Holley on a great product to mount an LS driver train.

So without further adeu, on to the pics!!!

Very built 4l80e from a member of this site that owns his own business.great prices and great work. PM me if you have more interest.

I'm trying to do a similar swap into an 86 Monte SS. What are your plans for the AC compressor, assuming you are putting on in it.
Thanks

Eventually I am planning to install a vintage air kit in it but for the first season she'll be no heat or AC....I have a complete original AC system but don't want to dick around with that and possibly run into an issue. Since I am on a Vette spacing I can get away with a high mount or more likely a frame notch and block hugger compressor

I want AC for sure...but ok with nothing right now just so I can drive her this season.

If someone has heat only, I would trade systems but am not going to hold my breath...haha.

Best

You and me both...been too many failed projects in my life, but circumstances at the time made it so. Family comes first!

So a quick shot of underneath to show frame and ground clearance for the 302-2 pan for anyone contemplating using Holley's mounts.

Great ground clearance as well as plenty of space between sump and frame! If you haven't noticed, I am a bit of a Holley fanboy wrt their swap parts. I have used many others over my 4 or so personal swaps, as well as swaps for other folks, and I cannot say enough good things about their product.

Fairly minor update tonight.

Got the torque converter bolted up and all the bellhousing bolts fastened. Drilled the 2" hole for the PSI Conversion harness and laid that around the engine. Very happy with how that is turning out so far. Placed the adapters for the injectors and the injector plugs. Wired the alternator and located a few odds and ends in the engine bay. Will lock down the trans tomorrow night and work some more of the wiring. Probably drop in the heat exchanger and radiator also. Temperature has been so brutal the last few days it's hard to work even in the garage with a big *** fan!!!
