2006 lQ4. In 71 c10 I was looking at my engine today and saw the line and censor in the photo. The line appears to follow my fuel line to the back of the engine. It come out of the front top of the intake. Sorry newbie here

You should do a search on the evap line. If I recall it does away with the fuel fumes you hear some guys complain about. Seems like it connects to a charcoal canister. I plugged mine. I'm lucky I don't have the fumes my loving wife would kill me.

nah it's emissions only. you will need to turn off the evap codes in the computer or it'll light the check engine upon every start up. another purpose the evap system serves is to vent the fuel tank, as fuel expands and contracts a lot with temperature swings. so you'll need some sort of vent to atmosphere.
You don't need a plug for it, it is closed until power is applied to it so it will seal the hole just fine. As stated, you do need some kind of gas tank vent, but I dont think you can use the purge solenoid because it requires other sensors you wont have so it's likley it would never be commanded open by the PCM. I would just run a regular vent, or if you feel so inclined, you can vent the tank through the factory charcoal cannister, that's what I have done and it works well and no fuel smells.

So as long as the tank has event on it I will be OK. It does not need to vent back to the motor? I was thinking about going to something like this
