Damn that car looks amazing with those wheels! Congrats on getting that broken bolt out, my guess is, that was not fun.

The stud came out easier than expected. But the head gasket still isn't sealing around that pitting in the block. I am going to try one more gasket and if I can't get it to seal I am going to find a new motor. It's not worth putting more money into that one.

Little update, I got the head gasket sealing issues all sorted out. I then rushed to get the car ready to take to Street Car Takeover Indianapolis. Made sure everything was all and towed it down. I planned to get it all dialed in down there but it turns out the trans I bought was junk.

Picked up a new trans locally, came with some cheap TCI converter (new trans on the right). I tossed the trans in with the cheap converter since I sent the Circle D back to get checked out.

Right now the car is running strong on 10psi or so. I am very impressed.

Little update. Tossed in the Craigslist trans, worked pretty well. Been running on 14psi or so, feels great. The converter is so tight and the tires hook to well to get the car to do a burnout. I ordered an FTI TH400 that is going in tonight, and I will put the Circle D back in. Hoping that will wake it up a bit.

Here is a little 1-2 pull from a couple weeks ago, on about 10psi.

I was just using a stock 4L60 flex plate since my converter has the fancy billet front that will bolt to anything without the spacer. I bought one of the Summit brand SFI flex plates that I am going to use with the new trans.

Few updates,

Long story short, the 4.8 didn't last long. I built a forged 5.3 put over 2000 miles on it from August to October. Car ran 10.0 @ 139 off idle. Needed suspension badly, wouldn't hook off the line on any boost.

For 2017 -

Sold the single turbo set up, intercooler and Microsquirt stuff

Got a chromoly 8 point cage
Strange struts/shocks
Team Z anti roll bar
3.27 gear with Strange 35 axles/spool

Doing twin 72/68's
MS3Pro
210lb injectors
Add an AEM380 pump

Got the passenger side turbo location mocked up. I plan to snake the downpipes through the K member.

This shows the plan with the IC routing. That is the larger Treadstone cooler. The radiator is a "Summit" brand, about 7" narrower than a Fox one

Would like to get the car a bit lower this year.

Also grabbed a set of these "Jegs" wheels. The whole set was $397 shipped.

They are made by Vision. I was surprised how good they actually looked. For the price I figured it was worth a shot.

Any updates? Where'd you get the turbos from? Any power or time you'd care to share.

Nice car! Always loved the svt and I'm a f body guy lol. What was the downfall of the 4.8? Too much boost? Bad motor from the start? Curious...

Well the car is going to be a 4.8 once again. Had an ARP head stud snap inside the 5.3 and it does not want to come out. So I tossed in my spare motor which is a pretty nice gen IV 4.8. The turbos are Rev9 7268's from eBay, about $300 each.

As for the original 4.8, turns out I had one cylinder that wasn't firing for a few hundred miles due to a bad crimp. On the first hit after fixing the wiring the motor popped. I suspect the rod was bent or a ring land broke from compressing raw fuel all the time and firing pressure cooked it when the wire was fixed.

I have the MS3Pro Ultimate ecu all wired, everything has tested good so far. I have a ton of little things to finish up but I hope to fire it this weekend.

Well I got it fired up, seems to be running great so far. Just waiting on some more intercooler couplers to show up then I can drive it.
