Default LSA Swap - A/C Question

Hey guys, maybe someone hear can help me out. I'm looking to find out what bracket (and compressor) guys that have done this swap into A Body's have used. I'm in the process (slowly in the process) of putting my LSA together to go into my '72 Chevelle (using Holley's forward engine mounts as well). Of course, now I want to put A/C on it. I need to know what A/C brackets are available that will work with the GM Modified FEAD (I already have this FEAD for my LSA).

Here's the link to the FEAD, in case anybody wants/needs to see what I'm referring to: http://paceperformance.com/i-1999062...em-w-o-ac.html

I want to use a Vintage Air setup, but need to know what has worked for folks that have done this swap already (that doesn't require notching or purchase of another FEAD). Any assistance would be appreciated.

You might want to check out korndawg's build thread as he's just one step ahead of you on basically the same swap.

If a low mount bracket is what youre looking for, this may work, but not sure if it would require a notch or not. http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/LS.htm

Thanks. It might fit, but hard to tell from pictures (unless someone with an A Body with Holley's forward engine mounts has used it). I don't want to notch. Low mount is preferred.

Default A/C brackets

For what it's worth department, here is a picture of a low mount on my '39 build. Took about 5 tries to get the mounts right because it is so tight between the engine and crossmember. I have it on the road now and it doesn't throw a belt or hit the crossmember with engine torque. Making up the hoses was a whole different story. Had to make a wrench. If you do a low mount try to make up the hoses before the sheet metal goes on.

You should be able to find a bracket to mount a Sanden SD7 in the same location.

Ok. A member on another site has a SD7 bracket. I'm going to have him ship to me to test fit it. Correct me if I'm wrong, the SD7 is the "mini" compressor folks refer to (smaller than the Sanden 508), correct?

Kwhizz is correct, the SD7 is of larger displacement than the 508.

The 7176 is the small Sanden compressor...

SD715 is the 7 cylinder and has a higher capacity than a 508. Sometimes referred to as a 709.
