Default Fuel pump

I have a decision to make and maybe you can help point me in the right direction. I have an LM4 (5.3) from an 03 Trailblazer in my '39 Chevy. When I built the car I installed a TANKS tank made for the '39. Ordered a (cheap) fuel pump from the 'net for an 03 Trailblazer and it fit the tank fine. Problem I'm having now is the pressure is low (45#) or so and sets codes for lean condition on both banks. Long term fuel trims are maxed at 25%. I replaced the regulator and entire fuel system but the pump will not produce the required 57 pounds. My bad for buying cheap junk. Now, to recover. I have three ways to go as I see it. First is to buy a GOOD 03 Trailblazer pump thru Rock Auto (Carter or Bosch) for just under $200 or buy a Walbro pump for around $110 and make the necessary brackets/tray. Third is to buy a pump from TANKS for about $190. I like to travel in the car and don't want to be stuck in Tennis Ball, Utah waiting on a pump should mine take a dump. Over the counter Trailblazer pumps are over $300! Which way to go?

I don't see why a basic Walbro 255L pump can't be used. Just made sure you buy it from a reputable source as there are many counterfeit Walbo pumps being sold on eBay.

X2 Also, if you have an access door in the floor above the pump, you can throw the one you take out in the trunk (or behind the back seat in my case) and then if it ever goes out you at least have a spare to get you out of Tennis Ball Utah, Chicken Fart Oklahoma, etc.

One thing that I can add is that 3 Walbro 255s that I have installed over the last 16 years have all been pretty loud. The one in my GTO was installed around 2000 and it is still working but is loud. The one in my Cougar that I got from Tanks, Inc. is also very loud.

Yes, do want to carry a spare just in case... Next question is: how can you tell the REAL from knockoff Walbro pumps? Ever since I started using fuel injection a trap door was a must. How to clean out the used pump?

this is the reason I went with a ricks tank that takes a GM fuel pump. If it goes out I can get a new one from any gm dealer but they're also designed for 100k miles without a failure.

The ones sold by Tanks, Inc. are real. The universal 255L pumps that Holley sells are also real Walbros. I am sure there are other honest vendors, I just don't know who...Summit? Jegs?

Which GM pump are you using (what's the application)?

No arguing that what you have is a great set-up, but probably way overkill for a stock 5.3L....

Absolutely. Still the thought is the same. He could get a tank that takes a gm pump, use the vaporworx pressure regulator adapter and something like. Delco fifth gen camaro pump and probably be good for tens of thousands of worry free driving.

Default Fuel pump

Great, seems I've opened up a good one. Hope this will help others in the future. My application is a stock 2003 5.3/4L60E in a 1939 Chevy. I have installed a TANKS poly tank and a GM OEM (knockoff) 2003 Trailblazer pump. Doing a little research after Andrew made the remark about loud. Other reviews of the pump say the same thing...loud. Summit sells several different in-tank pumps such as AEM at $102 and Aeromotive at $113. Reviews say they are much quieter than the Walbro but I don't know about longevity. Lots of ways to go here. Noticed Rock Auto has a Delphi OEM Trailblazer pump for $150. Good name, should be a good replacement right???
