Switched ignition 12v source.
It's the "standalone" fuse boxadded by the guy that did my harness (LS2).
Where's the best place to get this source?
I have an American Autowire classic update harness in a 55 Olds 88.
Thanks!
Joe
I found a pigtail under the dash which is the "ignition feed" to a coil according to the diagrams. Obviously, I'm not using that. I tested it an it only gets 12V when the key is in the "on/run" position.
The pink wire in it is a heavy gauge too.

I like to move the loads near to whatever the circuit is.
1. I have a small micro-relay box to run my electric cooling fan and headlights mounted against the frame rail to the side of the radiator. Power for this fused box comes off of the alternator 12V output.
2. Inside the cab, I have another ignition switched / fused relay box with relays for AC fan, PCM, and another relay for ignition switch - enabled circuits like turn signal, brake light, stereo amp-on, etc.
Bushman makes some cool fused, power distribution boxes which hold micro relays. They are also water tight, if you want to mount where it can be exposed to weather.
Unless the load is under an amp or two, I use a relay so as not to load up any switches.
