Question Speed engineering headers

I'm really close to buying these headers

http://www.speed-engineering.com/ls-...2-ls3-ls6.html

I've heard the quality is pretty good but I can't find anyone that has used this header on any 1970 era A-body car to see how the fitment is. Has anyone had any experience with these?

Looking for:
-hows the clearance to the ground?
-any interference to the steering shaft?

The car is lowered some so ground clearance is already close somewhat.

I did see it a couple but nothing about the particulars with clearance.

I ended up calling them direct and they were willing to help me get measurements so I could make sure things were going to clear. Customer service is great so far, no complaints. Ended up buying a set after getting what I needed. Should be here next week

Cool, post some pics once you get them in, curious to see what the end result is.

Copied from another thread:

I am in the process of installing these in my 68 cutlass. I am using the lsx inovations motor mounts that move my lq4/4l80e forward one inch...

I had to notch the cross member under the motor slightly on both sides to clear...not much no big deal in my situation. I also had to cut part of the bellhousing inspection cover around the starter to clear...again no big deal.

The only complaint i really have is that there was an interference with a boss on the block just below the driverside head right at the back of the motor. I just took a grider to it and clearanced the corner of it.

There appears to be plenty of room for the brake proportioning valve on the driverside frame rail. Ground clearance looks good, its just a little bit lower than the motor cosmember. Steering shaft does not seem to be an issue.

For $300 shipped they appear at this point to be worth it to me....i dont have the body on yet but i dont for see any issues.

If the motor was not moved forward i think the cross member would have been fine...i also dont think the 4l60 will have the inteference issue

I'm looking at their shorty headers for my 69 once I get the ls1 installed.

Here's some pics of the headers. Fit pretty well for being cheaper, except for the one primary tube that is fitting the trans ear. Ended up putting a small dent in the pipe afterwords.

I have used them on a 69 gto with the factory 4 speed. Had to do some primary bending to get the mechanical linkage for the clutch to work right. But if it was an automatic car they would have fit without issue except for passengers side 02 bung was pointed to far up and the sensor wouldn't go in because it was hitting the floor pan. Easy fix just capped it off and put new bung in exhaust pipe. I have also used their headers on a 66 biscayne with a 4l60 and they fit great. Even cleared the steering box with out needing dented!

That tranny would've been "earless" if mine. A nice, straight cut and rounded edges with a high speed sanding disc, no one would,ve known.
