Porsche 996 Turbo with LS7

I got a Porsche PST2 for diagnostic as well - you can do a bit more with this, than the durametric, but not much!
Sorted out a few more hassels today (windows buttons not working, engine lid didnt open om button). Mounted a GT2 sway bar at the rear, and did a quick wheel alignment.
I currently run GT2 sizes on tires: 235/40/18 and 315/30/18. We will se if any errors pops up. Also got a set with 295/30/18 rear ready to go on if needed.
Need to get the third brake light installed, install rear seats and bleed the Cooling system.

Sounds like you're making a lot of headway on all the little things that make the difference between a "project" and a "finished" car, very nice work and thanks for sharing!
Now, more pics please!

Brake light installed, done a bit more on the interior. Had an oil leak, which will be welded today. Test drive on sunday, just to bleed the coolant system and connect the oil system left!

I too have the X pipe going on the exhaust. What mufflers are you using? I'm using the magnaflow glasspacks. I've got the target idle set to 650 rpm and you can barely hear the car running. Get on it and it will wake up someone's deaf grandma. I need to find something that doesn't drone on the highway eventually.

Had a short test drive on sunday, due to still a small oil leak which should be fixed now.
Popped a few error message on the test drive:
ABS/PSM: 4460 pressure sensor. Probably due to faulty abs unit - the unit puts out 5V on a pin which should be below 0.3V. Used unit on the way in the mail.
Engine fan error: Well, dont have the fan mounted, so not strange. Bracket ordered, should be in the mail tomorrow.
Check engine light: guess the car misses its porsche engine. Its not coming back. Solution: black electric tape
Also got the coolant system bleeded properly. Found two small leaks with a pressure tester - and the vacuum bleeder made filling the system easiest thing ever!

Go back to my post or Amille28's, that is an easy fix. Just wire the GM ECU check engine light to the Porsche check engine light.

I think the MK2 cars sends the CEL on can bus, and dont have a wire for it? Know what pin on the Porsche ecu the Mk1 got the CEL?

Looks great, I just finished an 03 carrera tiptronic cab ls1. I did my exhaust that exact way with the x pipe, and had lots of back pressure with the way each bank of exhaust ran straight into each other. Exhaust temps went high and the exhaust was very quiet. You may not have that problem, but I was stumped for a bit. Also bought a Blazecut automatic fire extinguisher for the rear compartment, check that one out, don't want a repeat barbecue on that nice car.

You did a LS1 in a 03 Tiptronic ?
I thought the LS engine works only with clutch/6speed in a Porsche??!
Please let me know.
mariusl: very nice car, did you finish all the little stuff ?
Thank you
Klaus

Yes completed it with and 03 tiptronic with the 722.6 Mercedes transmission. I had to make an adapter for the torque converter to go to the ls1 flexplate, and it works great. It is my wife's daily driver in the summer with the top down hauling kids and groceries.

Getting close, not had time/motivation for a few months. Winter is crazy at work. Been fixing the cooling system, so it should be working perfect (not tested yet, so guess more issues )
Also got some custom oil tank / catch tank made, so oil system will be updated.
Currently just running a "snake head" and a 4" inch air filter, but would like to get a "Y"-pipe with 3" inch filter in each fender. And will re-do the engine harness one day (read: next time the engine are out of the car).

Hi,
nice, you are on the project til now.
What type of oiltank do you put in ? And where do you mount it ?
I ask, because i want also to tackle the conversation for a 996 with LS3.
Looking for a good car this time, but i have a LS3 engine from a 2010 Corvette.
It has the Chevy drysump system and i dont know, where to mount the drysump tank.

auto or manuell

I like the idea of an automatic trans. The Porsches with auto are way cheaper overhere. I thought the 722.6 Trans was used not only by Mercedes, but by Porsche, too ?
Do you have a build thread ? You are the only one i know of, who converted an automatic Porsche with an LS. I am lurcking and searching a few month now.
Do you have more adapters ?
