Yes you can "write entire" the ctsv tune onto either one of them.

Thanks. I want to keep the TBSS ECM as a baseline because I know at least my engine starts with that one. I'll get started tomorrow once I have access to the site. For some reason I'm have a problem with creating my account since I purchased it from Summit.

Doing a write entire will not alter the fixed gas pedal limits. Hp tuners does not have the capability to alter that portion of the memory blocks in the post-e38 ECU's.

I know very little about this stuff but I'd just read something similar in this thread on the HPTuners forum...specifically, in post #8.

AKNovaman knows what he's talking about

Post #8 doesn't make much sense because it is referring to the TAC...Gen IV engines don't use a TAC...So again, more mystery...

Well I have some an update. Flashed JY ECM with CTS-V tune and installed CTS-V pedal, TB responds when pedal is depressed. Bad news is my ECM now says its unlicensed so before I go any further I need to find out why from HP Tuners..

I thought it was the same basic situation that AKNovaman described; that a flash won't rewrite certain data in the ECU. Guess I misunderstood what I read.

To clarify, did you flash the CTS-V calibration using HP Tuners? If so, contact HP Tuners support. If you had the PCM overwritten by another means, you will have to license the CTS-V file. Obviously to flash with HP Tuners you already licensed the file.

I ended up having to relicense the EC due to am OS/VIN mismatch. I did write the tune with HP Tuners, but support said a VIN/OS mismatch will break the license. Unfortunately I had to use another license to make the ECM writable again.
