Default 6l80 in a 72' c10 4x4

Hello I'm looking to help a friend out with his swap and he has a 6.2/6l80e combo and wants to keep the c10 4x4. Is this possible or do I need him to give up the idea?

Budget build? If so just get the tcase that came with that trans combo. Or get an adapter from novak/advanced adapters for the current tcase. You'll probably have to have new drive shafts made.

Non budget build, get an ATLAS 2 speed t-case.

I believe that needs a passenger side drop on the transfer case,so a newer unit is a no go.
As already posted, check out Novak or Advanced for an adapter for a 205 or 208 TC.

Depends what transfer case you plan on running. From what I've read on other swaps, any 32 spline transfer case with the 6 bolt round pattern should bolt right up. If you want to keep your stock front axle you'd need a t-case from an 80's truck or Burb that had a TH400, SM465, or NV4500. Or go the expensive route if you have the money and get an Atlas II like vegask suggested.

You could also go with a 90's up t-case (including the one originally behind the 6l80) but you'd have to swap your front axle to a 78-79 Ford Dana 44 or 60. Those axles should bolt right up but they're getting rare and pricey. Any of the 80's up driver's side axles have different spring pad widths or coil mounts so they wouldn't really be an option unless you're planning to link the front. Check out ck5 or Pirate for more info, lots of guys are swapping the newer drivetrains in to older 4x4's over there.
