Clearance is why i moved my whole combo toward the front but with awd I understand why you cant. I used the same jack to put mine in worked great, looks like you could go up some but i guess you wont know that till the intake showes up.

I did some cardboard mock-up's this morning and think I will be Ok, pretty certain I will put an elbow at the manifold and have the throttle body off to the side. I need to pull my Techart spoiler out of storage and see there is room for cutting out and which side the air inlets are on. Yea, really need my intake setup before I can go any further.
Also ordered my 6061 plates last night and 1.5" square bars. Going to follow the RH concept but re-engineer it to my needs and mounts.

I'm not sure on the thickness of the KEP but mine is around 1.8" thick. Most likely the G97 and AWD is pushing it back further. Looked closer at the pictures of the 997 in the U.K. With an LS3 and appears their water pump pulley is pushed really close to the trunk latch. I need to do more cutting but it's looking to be a tight fit and I will have the same gap.

Pre Super Bowl progress... luckily for me I have the Techart spoiler as there's is no way I would be able to use a decent size elbow for the intake without chocking the incoming air. Ordered a 3.5" 90 degree low profile cast aluminum elbow that should arrive by next weekend and the plan is to weldup some 90mm throttle body flanges and put the throttle body off to the right side.
Still a lot to mockup but not so worried on the intake anymore.

You better bolt the AC compressor up also, I had to do a little more cutting to get it to clear. It looks like you will have to also. Look at the amount I cut out of my hood to get clearance!!!!

You guys make me jealous. I feel like every 996/7 that gets converted looks nicer and cleaner each time around. Whats the consensus? Am I one of the only ones still running an electric water pump? I'm pretty sure I'm one of the only ones running the Porsche gas pedal still. I'd like to know if anyone else has any "damn, I wish I would have done it like that."

Im running a electric water pump and my spoiler still works as does the deck lid latch....no way was i cutting my car up that bad. The little i did remove could be replaced easily if the unlikely need did arise.

Those will look good all cleaned up, radiused and maybe powder coated. Is that two layers of 1/4" with one angle aluminum? Will you TIG weld the end pieces together?
How did you solve the issue of being too far back (to the rear)?
How much extra room is there with the water pump mounted?

It's 1/4" bolted to 1.5" square block with M8 bolts. Very similar to the RH setup but I put 1/2" thick round aluminum disk in the factory motor mount locations and used universal motor mounts and simply drilled holes for M12 bolts that bolt on the bottom side of the 1/2" round plates.
As far as the space I am fabricating a 90 degree elbow and will be placing my throttle body vertical and off to the side.
Regarding the water pump I got more cutting to do, it fits without removing the locking mechanism but I am going to cutout anyway for better clearance of the intake and coolant lines. Also need to cut more for the A/C but ordered a Vette compressor by mistake and needed a Fbody. Replacement is on the way

Progress on my coolant lines. Ended up hacking up the LS3 thermostat housing to flipping it upward with a 45 degree 20an fitting. Thanks to Profab for fabricating and welding everything up. Earlier this week I ordered my 92mm throttle plate flanges and should be able to work on the intake in the upcoming weeks.

Do you feel like the engine plate mounts attached to just the cylinder heads is enough? I've seen some engine plates that attaches to the timing cover as well, which seems like it would relieve some stress off of the heads doing all of the holding.

I would think if this was an issue or weak point to mount someone who'll do have advised against it by now. I also remember a couple guys saying they have tracked their cars which I would think is the ultimate stress test.

As a side question related to the engine mounting. How did you determine what angle to mount the engine at with your engine plate? Was there a specific angle range that you were aiming for? Any tips/info here would be helpful for my own build.

I raised the engine as high as it would go leaving about .25" between the intake and top of the engine compartment. I then made 2 cardboard templates for each head and cut 1.5" x 12" pierces of cardboard and leveled it to the top of my motor mounts and then taped to the head templates. I also brought my tablet into the garage and compared visually against other swaps.
