Fbody4? 4th gen? If that's the question I think it could've with more work. When I was mocking mine up the middle of the pan hump interfered with the crossmember and couldn't go low or back enough. That being said if I took more time and completely redid the trans tunnel like I regret not doing. The engine could've went back far enough to drop down low enough. At that point the crank pulley might've been in contact with the steering rack. Kinda hard to remember now.
Made it out to pick my car up. Getting it certified in the morning. Next up is cleaning up my wiring tornado and figuring out what I want to do for gauges.
Being a small car they really did a good job keeping it tight to the body of the car. I do need a quick release steering hub now though. Getting my left leg in the car is a little awkward. Anything knee and up doesn't fit so I have to do a weird butt up climb in till both legs are in then I can sit in the seat all the way. Cage is also now 8.5 certified so I shouldn't have any problems anytime soon.
Quick release wheel and racepak dash mounted. The interior wiring is getting professionally wired to eliminate the excess and clean everything up. Once that's done I'm going to have to clean and paint the cage. My parking situation sucks right now so it's flash rusting quicker than I'd hoped it would.
This is what happens when you absolutely hate painting and have no patience. You put on a glove and just start rubbing the paint into those hard to paint areas. At least it's done now. And it looks about as good as the rest of the car lol
Poor 5.0 that comes across this is gonna be really really mind blown lol Great build!!!! My dad had a 406 in a Gremlin in his later years (68ish when he built it) He always loved a small block in something that shouldn't have one. In the late 60s he built an Anglia that went high 10s with a 327.
I was hoping when getting the engine together I'd be knocking on 9s door. But realistically I think mid 10s are doable as it sits, on slicks. Just have to get it to the track and see. I'll get it back on the scales again soon too.
It may surprise a few people but I don't anyone is going to really call it a sleeper anymore. If you hear it idling and walk up and look inside it's no where near stock.
Made it out to pick my car up from the wiring guy. The car looks so much better now and hopefully no more blown ignition fuses. My cutoff works properly now. Also splurged on a kirkey seat cover.
