Default Generic motor mounts with Hooker swap headers

A while back, Todd asked me to post some pictures of my setup even though I couldn't wait for the Holley/Hooker swap motor mounts.

I'm putting an LS2 into an '86 Mustang with a Maximum Motorsport MMK-1 K member and suspension setup. I purchased the Holley 302-3 oil pan, the Hooker headers, and some generic motor mounts from eBay that were listed for putting an LS in a '99-'04 Fox. The test fit showed that I needed some spacer blocks, so I played around with some stacks out of seatbelt washers I had laying around to determine the thickness and if offset was needed. The result was I made up two 6061 aluminum blocks that were .905" thick. That gave me good oil pan clearance (even with the MM offset rack bushings), good header clearance on both sides, and the ability to put the motor in the 1" setback slots on the K member without hitting the firewall. I'm very happy with the way it turned out, the oil pan and headers fit great and saved me a ton of work. People may complain about the cost of the headers, but they are a perfect example of you get what you pay for. Very easy to install, good clearance for the steering shaft and clutch cable (I'm using a Ford T56 trans that I adapted to a GM bell) and excellent quality.

Here are some pics:

I've seen those engine side mounts before and they were equipped with a cylindrical rubber bushing inside them.

I've been working with the product management folks the last two days to finalize the release materials, website listings and tech service materials for all the Fox Body LS swap engine brackets and wanted to let you guys know they are getting close to popping up on the shelf. I thought I'd post a copy of the Fox Body LS swap technical data sheet here for those among us that like to gather info by reading. The intent of the document is to provide an understanding of the engineering geometry behind the system and convey the compatibility of the individual components with one another.

I know how you feel...nobody wants to wrap-up this project more than I do. Thanks for hanging in there with a great amount of patience.

Also anxiously awaiting the release of this product line. Specifically the trans crossmember. Will the same 1 3/4" trans mount work using the team z mounts as the hooker ones? (I've got team z k member and mounts). I read about the k member compatibility in the data sheet, just wondering if the mounts alter the geometry at all.

Thumbs up

Just read the line about them being developed to match the positioning of the engine when using the hooker brackets.

Yeah, the Hooker crossmembers will only work with the stock engine offset towards the passenger side of the car...the AJE engine mounting brackets move the engine towards the vehicle centerline, so you need to use a transmission crossmember that moves the trans mount over towards the center of the car by the same amount.

I just wanted to let you guys know that the office staff got thinned out pretty good this week due to folks having to go work the LS Fest West event this coming weekend. I've been ping-ponging messages back and forth with the Product Manager to get the web pages built for the 5 different engine brackets and I'm off work until next Tuesday, so I don't know if they will make it up onto the website by then or not. I'll check back in when I return and give everyone a heads-up.

No and I'm not sure if it will ever come to be released (it's a product management decision). If that information was still in the tech sheet, it slipped by my final edit and I'll need to remove it.

Yes there is. I approved the product release today, but I've not seen any movement as far as the packaging of the brackets in the shipping department goes. I'm going to ask him where they are in his work schedule tomorrow.
