My son helped me get the throttle cable connected and tested, his legs are longer than my daughter's so he can reach the pedals. Went well, the Lokar cable with matching bracket had plenty of adjustment to get the travel correct. Just need to cut off the extra cable and put a cable end on it.

Placed the MEFI unit where the old DME and KLR control boxes used to live, under the kick plate floor board below the glove box. Plenty of space with the plugs attached, and room for the extra main harness cable to tuck in beside. A floor board covers it then the carpet attaches with Velcro over top, a nice elegant placement developed by Porsche. I started running a few wires, there's a few 12Volt switched connections that need to go here and to the relay bracket pictured in a post above, as well as full time 12Volt in and some out wires (fans, fuel pump, tach).

Wiring, wiring, wiring. I'm making progress I swear.

I bought a spare used 14-pin 944 connector. This is the plug in the engine bay that sends signals to the oil pressure and coolant temperature guage. I'm also pulling a few switched 12V connections off here. There's also a pin here that sends 12V directly to the fuel pump, so I'll be taking advantage of that too.
It looks worse, but it's getting there. Long red wires are going to run to the fans, waiting on some wire sleeving before I route those nicely. White wire will go to battery and sends power to auxiliary fuse/relay bracket under dash. Other loose wires go to 14-pin connector.
Finalized all the connections under here to the auxiliary relay/fuse panel, just need to remount it and tuck and zip tie wires. The blue wire attaches to the plug with the little piece of tape on it in the centre of the picture, that's the tach signal.

Making plug wires, running plug wires. I used MSD kit 31193 and substituted the MSD 3304 LS1 coil ends for the ones that came in the kit.

Did a little "while you are in there" maintenance last night. My fuel pump died a couple years ago and I replaced it, so that is still fine, but I've never changed the in-tank fuel screen since owning the car so I decided to do that while the tank was dry.

I also dropped the fuel pump to change the delivery fitting to -06 from metric in preparation for setting up the lines to run the Corvette style fuel filter/regulator which will replace the factory filter.

Started roughing out my intake situation. Built a little bracket to hold the intake pipe forward and up from the power steering pulley, there were 2 existing studs there I could make use of to secure the bracket. Please excuse the lack of hose clamps and filthy filter, the whole setup was in and out multiple times for fitting and the filter is just for testing space, I need to grab a new one.

Still some work to do, need to drill the pipe to place the AIT sensor and the hose barb for the PCV fresh air source.

The MEFI is setup for speed density, no MAF sensor needed which simplifies things.

Worked on the fuel return line tonight. First shot is under the rear hatch carpet, top of the fuel level sending unit where the return line goes in and the tank vent line comes out.

Attached a string to the old return hose before I pulled it out.
Made the new hose.
Attached the string to the new hose and pulled it through.
Attached to the top of the fuel tank.
Shot under the car by the tank. The Corvette filter/regulator is being held by the original stock fuel filter bracket. I've got the delivery line to engine bay and the return line to the tank connected. Just need to do the line from the pump to the filter/regulator.

I had challenges with Fragola's series 8000 textile braid line allowing the small molecules through so that the garage smelled like gasoline all the time. Ended up having to ditch all of it. It wasn't SAE 30R9 or R14 rated....mistake I won't make again.

I used some Fragola and Starlite hose. I get some slight whiffs of gasoline in my garage, too. I notice it in the line from the large screw-on fuel filter housing to my fuel pump (I use an external Bosch pump from a 90s Mercedes and Porsche) smells of fuel when I get my nose up to it while my truck is on the lift. I checked it countless times for leaks.

Michael's comments now make sense. I guess I'll replumb one day with teflon lined stuff. (I'm guessing that is 30R9 / R14 rating).

If my garage didn't smell like gas fumes I'd worry someone had stolen my old Porsche!

I went with hard line and SAE30R14 flexible connections. My garage smells like peach ice cream.

Delivery fuel line at the back done and things reassembled. Extra piece of regular hose around the fuel line to stop it rubbing the support tray the pump sits in. The stock line had a similar setup so I thought it was worth replicating.
