Default Another oil pan question

I have been reading for a while now and can't find a good answer, will the 2010 or newer ls3 cameo pan or a ctsv pan work on a 72 nova with stock solid mounts and eBay adapter plates? They are a lot cheaper than the Holley 302-2 pan. I've looked all at the measurements and can't figure it out. My motor is set as far back as I can get it (about 1/4 inch from the firewall at the cylinder head)

That does help a little, I've looked at all the measurements kind of looking for people's experiences with these pans before I drop the money on the Holley pan

I'm in the same boat...only doing the swap in a 72 chevelle. I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and use the holley pan. It is pricey but it seems to work very very well.

Sometimes saving bucks means using the pricey part to prevent other hassles (AKA $$$$) down the road.

Having the engine that close to the firewall will make it almost impossible to pull the transmission with the engine in the car. The head will crash into the firewall.

Save some money and get the Holley mounts and pan...

I have plugs in my fire wall to get to the top bolts on the trans, my big block was just as tight plus the motor is solid mounted so I'm not to worried about that. Any one use these pans?

The 5th gen Camaro pan doesn't fit anything that I'm aware of in a swap application. The CTS-V pan would probably work, but won't be ideal, as it will hang down below the crossmember and getting your drive line angles right may be tough.

If using the CTS-V pan in a Chevelle, you woud nee to move the engine back and up in order to have the front part of the pan clear the crossmember. Even with the engine up a bit, my Chevelle with the CTS-V pan on, it still hung almost 1" below the crossmember. I bottomed it out one time to many.. cracked it...

I would think that would also be the case for a X-Body...

Looking at the BRP/Muscle Rod swap kit.. they also mount the engine a bit on the high side. I sold them there orginal CTS-V pan many years ago so they could design and model one of there kits with.

I have since gone to Holley pans on both of my Nova and Chevelle. They just fit better and less problems.

Unfortunately in a Nova you will need to use the holley pan and spend the $$

I used the holley pan in a 79 nova and it makes it way nicer, I now have full turning radius ( before my inner tie rod hit the front of the pan) and I can pull the motor with the tranny attached. But yes they are stupid expensive.

I know a buddy just stuck a F-Body pan in a Chevelle and it fits great. I agree with above, and think in a Nova, you need a Holley pan. I used one in my s10 , and it fits great, and doesn't hang down.

You should also consider their mounts. With their pan and mounts your engine will be places as low as possible and if you want headers that fit well, Holley offers various options...They also have transmission crossmember for different transmissions.

I already have turbo forward headers that fit really well, I'm trying to get the motor as far back as I can for clearances up front for the turbos and intercooler. I'll definitely look at there crossmember though modding that one may be easier than starting from scratch on mine
