Trunk Mounted ECM - Length of Harness? Hey guys,
'67 Camaro with vintage air under the dash. I have no room whatsoever to mount the ecm under the dash and I do not want to mount it in the engine bay (prefer to keep it clean looking). I know you are supposed to keep the ecm away from the radio which is what I'm mounting in the center console. Which brings me to mounting it in the trunk. I know quite a few people have mounted theirs there, but when doing the search, nobody said how long the wiring harness had to be in order to get it from the trunk to the engine bay. So, for those that did, how long was your wiring harness? I know most companies come with a 4 foot harness, just checking to see how much longer you had yours made?

I've tried mounting it in the glove box without the vintage air insert. It ain't happening. I have the older style vintage air unit that is larger and is not electronic. I would mount it in the console but I have heard that radio wires or the head unit itself can mess with a computer so I want to stay away from it. I can't mount it on the trans hump next to the firewall because that is still too close to the radio. I don't have seats yet so it's impossible for me to know about mounting it under the seat. The trunk is just the safest option.
Haven't took a precise measurement but after routing it up and over stuff - yes close to 12ft. I wanna move the PCM from the engine bay to behind the rear wheel well in the trunk. You'll be surprised how short that wire can get real quick while routing.

You may be confusing radio as in CB radio with car stereo. I have my PCM on my tunnel hump under my console mounted car stereo and have never had an issue. Car stereos are receivers not transmitters and shouldn't cause any problems at all for you.
I mounted my ECM to the firewall behind the driver's side fender. It is accessible by removing the bolts attaching the inner fender and lowering it down onto the tire. Here is a photo during the wiring process:

I put the fuses/relays on the radiator support by the horn relay.
