Default anybody put a LS1 into a OBS (88-98) chevy 1500 truck.

just wondering mainly about the AC compressor and other problems i will have. the truck i got is a 4x4 1996 Z71 with a worn out 5.7 vortex. the wireing will not be a problem. just need info on the fittment problems. will the AC or other accesseries hit the crossmember? what other problems will i have or has anyone ever done this?

the only other problem with fitments you'd run into are your motor mounts. S&P makes relocating plates but that changes your angles which i didnt like too much my mounts are a bit custom and sit in the exact same location my old motor sat.

awsome man. i figured the compressor would not fit, but i have a 4x4 with a little bit more clearence then a 2x4 will. eather way, running the compressor with that bracket up high is a good idea. i could probably just use the orignal 96 compressor if i do it that way so i dont have to buy another expensive LS1 compressor. did the oil pan clear fine? and what wireing harness did you use? i was thinking about useing a facotry harness and just splicing it into the origanal one. let me know, thanks. my origanal 350 vortex already has 210,000 miles on it and starting to lose oil pressure.

just noticed that you are useing LS1 brackets correct. do you think it would be easier for me to use truck brackets to keep the alternator up high? also i plan on doing alot of 4-wheeling rather then raceing with it. thanks for the pic.

so i could use the LS1 compressor with a little trimming uh. since i got a 4x4, i have more space in that area, but i think i still need to trim a bit. thanks.

i dont wanna cut my frame so im gonna use a custom bracket to pull my a/c up higher rather than switch all my accessories to truck accessories and have to run the truck intake.

truck brackets may be ok for you in the case of 4 wheeling, but for racing ill take the ls1/6 intake over a truck intake.
