1997 Firebird Forumla lsx swap
Hello from Tx!
I picked up a 1997 firebird formula in pretty rough shape from a friend of mine. It still has the original running lt1 engine, no working trans. Rough paint. ive been looking for something to drop my 5.3 I've been working on. Originally I wanted to lsx swap a 2000 mustang gt I had but the wiring has me back tracking on that idea. Anyway here is my ideas and build plan:
5.3l motor
Ls6 Intake
Ls6 pushrods, lifters, lifter trays
Trunnion upgraded rockers
Comp cam 918 .615 lift valve springs
Comp cam 232/234 lsa 112
3.73 gears
Pacesetter long tube headers
Ls k member
2000 trans am front bumper, fenders, hood, hatch with spoiler, doors
706 port polish heads
2800-3000 stall converter
Fully rebuilt 4l60e
King main and rod bearings
Sealed Power piston rings
Paint black
I've gotten some pics of the car at the shop, and some of the parts I've bought so far. Will update as I get more parts in! Thanks and enjoy!

I actually have a friend who has a k member from his camaro that he's giving me and he's gonna put it in. Overall it worked out!

Goodies showed up at my door:
Piston rings, main and rod bearings.
I bought my motor from a local guy and noticed he replaced the head gaskets. They were brand new. I'm thinking he took his time on it because the motor looked like it had been out in the weather. (Rain). Just to be on the safe so I've pretty much replaced everything

Took apart the engine yesterday with a friend of mine. Full of oil still. You could definitely tell someone had the heads off for along time. Bores need to be honed most definitely. They were pretty rough. Pistons will be cleaned. Cam bearings were shot so I'll have to get some.
