Uh,
I will bother to ask ....... Why the hell would you do that?
if you want to go backwards, why not regress back to before there was even a SBC?? ~ why not scrounge up a GMC 270 6 cylinder and soup it up- that's what all the cool cats were running against the flathead fords back in the early 50's.
its illegal im sure to do what you are trying to do in the land of NO,
but you could read all the l31 411 conversion swaps -to get rid of the black box pcm and reverse engeneer it, and use the 411 to operate a lt1.

No, you can always put in a newer engine. The law is, the engine must be same age or NEWER than the chassis it's going into. This prevents rat motors from going into that new Camaro. It CAN, but not on the street.... lol

And in a small town like Visalia for example ~ where everyone talks, the local roothead cop hears of some particular swap is Technically not legal.....................
Like an 2001 8.1 in a 2000 Camaro, I don't believe someone can get away with that from what I have heard.
the cops out there get to pull you over and order you to open the hood,
from my understanding,
there is no such thing as reasonable suspicion,
or specific or articulable fact, they got free rein-~ no reins,,
and the car can be impounded for -minimum 30 days,
Im a Texafornian
I used to be a resident in San Bernardino Co,
That is why The State of California manufactures homeless people, because the fact is many people are two paychecks away from being evicted, if the state takes away their wheels.
BTW,, # the 270 GMC-- GREAT old engine

Well as far as the roothead cops seizing cars, I don't think it matters wether its Harford, or Hemmit, or Auburn, or Gaviota,,,
or YV, JT,
Seems the imbeciles in sACREMENTO turned the state where the auto culture started ---> into the land of No.

One thing that is nice is that any car '74 and before you can do whatever you want. INCLUDING any engine you want.
