Have an update. I contacted VS Racing and they said no to the V band for the Hooker Manifolds. They said its close, but not exact fit and recommended the T4 as well. Went with the CAST 7875 kit. I better find someone that can weld better than I. LOL

well i got under the car the other night to do a pre track check and to tighten all the clamps/fasteners i had removed when we did hte converter/shift kit install, unfortunately the input shaft seal on transmission is leaking now. i didnt replace it when we did the converter and im kicking myself for it. a 5 dollar part making me yank the trans again. ugh. its not a bad leak, but it drops right down on the crossover pipe for the exhaust so i do not want that getting worse down the track and causing a fire. so out it comes.

going to try and knock that out this weekend and get everything back together so i can make it to a track night on the 29th.

Dan, make sure you put some red locktite on the outer edge of the new seal. iv had them pop out from the increased line pressure. just run a bead around the whole outer edge and it should be good to go.

That sucks. I am not looking forward to taking out and putting in that huge beast of a transmission either. Figured I will at least have about 3 times to get it to fit. Hope its not too bad for the fix. I ordered my Radium Surge Tank to mount in the trunk. Heck of a deal from CSP Racing. Saved like $100 off the Radium price. Probably going to run 1 Hellcat pump for now. I think (2) 450 pumps MAY be excessive for 600-700hp pump gas. What size AN fittings did you use on your fuel hat? I will have to attempt the same to get a return line back to the main tank. I was all set to order some SEP injectors, but wow I heard some bad reviews on getting them setup to run correctly. Seems like some have luck with them and some do not. I may be looking into the FIC injectors instead. And the $$$ hits just keep coming.

Not to mention I went to the Charlotte Auto Fair and spent another $380 on something not needed for the project. A guy had an almost complete (missing side skirts) factory Saleen body kit for sale. So I will have a fake Saleen with an LS engine

They had a direct savings coupon, so hopefully its still going on. Sorry, I would have let you know before if you were still going to go that route. Cheapest place I could find it. It arrived exactly as needed, so no issues at all as I have never purchased from them. Thanks for that info @dan95gst

Edit: Confirmed its still on sale

Dont miss the coupon for 5% off as well springdeam22

Also remember they make 3 different types for the baskets (pump differences). I wanted this one as it fits the 450 and 525 pumps.

Got all the leaks sorted out, everything working as i thought it should. loaded it on a trailer and hauled it to the racetrack on sunday.

successful failure. car went fastest its ever gone, quickest its ever gone but still didnt hit a ten as i wanted. Its got the power to i just couldnt get it to leave. brakes wouldnt hold once it started spooling the turbo and pushed through. Going to try programming the sloppy transbrake on it and try again after the track reopens next year.

best pass of the day was a 11.9 @ 122 with a 2.1 60ft.

rest of the passes were 12.1-12.2 at 117-120. intake air temps at the top of the track were a problem as well. it was 180+ by the end of the track and one run 202.holley was pulling timing with the temps as it should and got the timing down as low as 7.5* at the top of the track. i need to build an undertray under the intercooler to the radiator as right now its open and the air just bypasses the intercooler. other issue is i heard an exhaust leak as i was pulling it into storage unit.

but at the end of the day, it made passes, then pulled itself onto the trailer to go home. pretty good time!

Welp whats likely the last visit for the car to the track on Sunday since HRP is closing down. did some holley magic from the guidance of BlaserBuilds on youtube to do a sloppy transbrake to get the 60ft down which was working but i am yet again consumed by brake system issues. Car was a little down on MPH on this pass cause we were testing some timing changes in the Tune. It went 125 on another pass.

Didnt hit my goal of 10s, car still works so i might get a wild hair to drag it out of town somewhere to race again but maybe not. Decided im going to pull the drivetrain out of this and slap it into some big sedan from the 80s or early 90s. b/g body, fairmont/ltd, something. IDK yet.

anywho pics from the track

ive never been racing at HRP but ive been there a bunch. im planning on going for TX2K on Saturday. Seems like something is off with your car. it should be running much faster than that on 12psi. My 4400lb truck with the 5.3 on pump gas runs some 7.1x at 94+ mph. On e85 it went 6.8x@100. Any known issues with the car?

well the biggest one, im tuning it myself LOL. but also the brake system something is not right. im assuming its booster related because everythign else has been replaced due to being faulty. it can only hold around 2400rpm in 1st and 3600rpm in 3rd with the sloppy transbrake on. the intercooler isnt getting near enough air, my iAT is hitting 200 at the top of the run. its at 12psi in 1/2 but in 3rd it creeps to 16. i agree i feel like it should be much faster than it is but something is off and i havent been able to find what it is.

it picked up on all teh changes we made through the day. first pass it trapped 118 then 117, then with some timing adjustments it went up to 125. the fastest pass (the slip linked) was a little too much timing and the car got a little warm on the pass so we pulled it down. the car doesnt get driven on the street ever so the only time im sorting out issues is at the track and between that its just sitting in my storage unit while i work on other cars that need attention.

If you havnt done so id change the booster. 2nd, please dont use the sloppy spool mod. it creates so much heat in the trans and from the testing ive done the heat it creates isnt worth burning up the clutches. i tune my own vehicles and several in my area if your interested in. it wouldnt be free but i could work with you if thats something your interested in. are you not running any e85? I dont recall what converter your running but only being able to get 2400 out of it it seems really tight. Id start with the booster and see what that does.

so going back and looking through the thread i see your running a circle d converter. what was the specs on this? i also noticed your radiator hoses are hooked up backwards in one of the pics. is the thermostat hose still hooked up to the top of the radiator? if so it should be on the bottom of the rad since that is the suction. the return comes out of the top of the water pump and goes to the top of the radiator.

its a circleD 3600-3800 258mm. the pedal falls to the floor when im holding it, when the car is off it gets **** stiff. mush with the booster. It probably needs to be changed out but at this point im pretty well done with the car. im gunna move all this stuff into another chassis later this year. Appreciate the tuning offer, will keep it in mind.

My temps werent getting super high with the spool mod, when i started the burnout it was 130, started the spool mod it was 145 and hit 155 then it got up to 165 at the top of the pull and was back to 145 by the time i had driven back to the pits. ive got a fairly big cooler on it. if it was a street car or something i planned on relying on i wouldnt do it, but for a toy at the track, its just part of it imo. I am not running e85, just 93. tried to find some 110/116 at the track to throw in for some knock protection but everyone was running E. didnt want to have to start from 0 with half the day gone.

that for sure is a booster issue. fix that and that converter should easily foot brake 3400 if not more. If you do decide to swap to another chasis remember to swap them radiator hoses.
