Default Solid, poly or rubber motor mounts?

What are you using in your swap? The cheapass in me says use the metal you have and build solid mounts and use a rubber trans mount but I’m not sure if I’ll regret it.

Street-driven or race? If raced, then solid. Street, rubber or poly. If you're using a real loper of a cam, rubber might be your choice. It comes down to this: How much shaking can you or your passengers handle?

I'm far from an expert and have minimal experience on the subject. But my mild cam solid mount car is not bad at all like some said it would be. It's not like it's going to spill your drink in the cup holders. To me it's most noticible on startup then not bad at all. And.... I'm also running a solid mount aluminum kirkey. I wouldn't hesitate running solid mounts ever again for comfort issues.

They say it is a bad idea to mix solid and flexible mounts, can lead to cracking when one part can move and the other is rigid.

Pop, that’s why I’m asking what people are actually running. I can recall a few builds with solid mounts but looking for first hand opinions. This will be a street car

I'm running solid motor mounts and a poly trans mount on mine, no issues. My turbo cam is pretty mild as far as overlap goes.

Drove it 750 miles round trip to MS last month and wasn't bothered by vibration.

I have a few LS swapped vehicles and they all have "stock" type rubber mounts. I built them that way to reduce vibrations and noise.

That is how mine is setup right now. I had the original thought everything needed to be solid. But as I read everyone seems to run a poly mount on the trans. I guess it's to allow for slight chassis flex?

Yes, to avoid breaking the tailshaft housing

I personally liked the poly eng/rubber trans mount over rubber eng/rubber trans and poly eng/poly trans.

Me and my cousin had 4th gen f body cars mine poly eng/rubber trans his poly eng/poly trans and his vibrated far more and rattled in the cabin, mine was stock smooth and quiet inside.

All rubber is fine but it allows sooo much movement and flex. With an auto no big deal but with a stick car the shifter jumping all around annoys me.

I like having a little flex in there to reduce loads/impact on the trans case and eng mount bosses.

I have run, and have seen guys run, one poly and one rubber. It stiffens engine movement, but kills a little of the vibrations. I was running that for a bit, then switched to dual poly with a poly trans mount.

I like the dual poly mounts on the engine better, but Im considering switching to a rubber mount on the trans to help quiet/smooth things down a bit.

I agree with poly engine mounts. I noticed no increased vibration in the cabin going from worn OEM mounts to poly.

Poly mounts tend to soften over time. What is felt initially, usually tones down after a while.

One solid one rubber - max performance plus max comfort. Solid trans mount with rubber washer between bolts and frame. Mint.

I have Poly in the engine, and a rubber mount on the trans. Initially, it had a notable vibration with the trans poly mount. It is actually from the engine, but was being transferred through the drivetrain. Once I swapped it out, it was much much better.

I also have poly body mounts, and I am against those now. They just transfer too much NVH into the cab of my truck. Over the past couple of years, the NVH has actually broken the passenger side door panel where GM plastic sonic welded it together. I will be swapping out the body mounts as soon as I find a good set of stock mounts. To buy a replacement set is almost $400, and I am not doing that.

Solid engine for me, with an aluminum billet trans mount. No vibrations, and it’s very smooth.

How many of you guys who are experiencing vibration issues using solid or poly mounts are using a quality aftermarket driveshaft? If not it's def worth the money in my opinion.
