This is an issue that concerns me on a lot of these drives. Even the Front Runner is that way.
I just looked more carefully at the dimensional drawings. The Hi-mounts system (basically Corvette) has the center of the PS pulley 10" from crank CL. The mid-mount puts it at 6.5" out from CL. It will clear by a mile.

Just got an email that my kit will be delivered tomorrow! I’m no where near ready to install the kit or the engine but pretty excited anyway. I need to decide on and locate a transmission so I can determine which motor mounts to order and which transmission mount I will need. Lots of work to do on the car too, but with temps in the teens I can’t get excited about getting out in the garage.

I've also ordered this kit but I'll be using it in a 70 Chevelle with an 06 gto engine, My engine is in the car already for mock up, I don't know how similar our cars are but I will install the kit to see how the accesories clear near the steering box.

What motor mounts are you using and what transmission are you using?

Y'all should be using the Holley/Hooker mounts. Best mounts for A-bodies.

Im using the holley position b brackets that set the engine farther back and a t56 from the same gto that I relocated the shifter into the f body position.

Good to know. I don’t know if the trans tunnel in a 70 is larger than a 67 or not. Do you think you will have to cut your tunnel? I don’t think you will have any steering box clearance issues at all based on what I have read and seen on you tube.

I had to cut the tunnel for the t56 and the bigger gto alternator would have hit the steering box, I would have been ok with the smaller f body alternator, I was planning on replacing all the accessories, and I like how simple the holley mid mount kit looks.

How much did you have to cut the tunnel?

I'm setting mine up now in a 66 with a T56 and Holley's forward mounts. Looks like I am going to have to at least modify the floor brace if not raise it an inch. This is to get to 4* installed angle.

I had to cut a good bit because I'm using the setback mounts.

The middle part came from a 69 Camaro, and I made the rest.

I also ordered and received the new mid mount kit to replace the C5/Holley serp setup in my camaro. The new kit looks like a nice piece!

I installed a 2001 5.3 and 4L65E in a 66 Beaumont. Used the stock truck front drive system complete with fan and power steering. Swap to a smaller power steering pulley from a late 80's S10 to clear the power steering box. Swap the big "nut" on the back of the pump to one from an older ps pump that used SAE pressure hose thread. Then you can use your existing ps hose. May not be beautiful but works perfect and cheap.
