Carb Conversion, computer delete, problems?
So you took the top apart, cleaned it, and replaced O-rings/gaskets and it worked?
Yeah, those both sound exactly like issues you would have with a carb as well.

Point is you still need to keep the gumout handy.
Actually the real point is why attack some guy coming here looking for information? Be helpful and don't take yourselves so seriously.
Looks like catscratch got his answer so my work here is done. I just feel bad about telling him to go to the carb forum only to have the hate follow him there.

Nobody attacked anyone. You took it harder than the OP did.
It was never about hate. There was none. It was about the common sense of staying with a solid very low maintenance system. I, among others am glad he saw the light in this, an saved a bunch of money!.

I'll be the first to admit that I don't know a ton about carbs. Clean one out, maybe change a jet on a dirtbike but that's as crazy as I've ever gotten with one. EFI is what I started with and definitely what I'll stay with. If you were building a motor from scratch to go in your 70's Datsun I'd say rock and roll do whatcha know, but you were talking about tearing apart integrated parts on a vehicle already equipped with EFI. That's like taking apart your new laptop to install a modem because your scared of the LAN. You had to expect some criticism, maybe not as harsh as it was in the beginning, but some nonetheless. This is an LS website theres tons of good info and a lot of good guys. I've learned a ton from reading on here. Don't lose faith of the site because a few people had harsh words from the jump. And no some of the newbs don't get a warm welcome, but think of it like a big fraternity. That was an initiation.... maybe you're in now! haha
On a side note, if a mechanic is throwing parts at something because he doesn't know the problem or how to fix it, he's not a very good mechanic imo.
Fast forward to todays MPFI and it's improved to the point that it's better than a carb in every way.
We have hand held scanners and the internet to help diagnose problems and the vacuum lines that looked like a bowl of spaghetti was dropped on the intake are a thing of the past.... Life is good again!
Carbs are practical in older cars and certain late model swaps but that's about where it ends. I didn't try to be rude and I don't think I was. I explained that yes a carb will work but it's far from practical and pointed out the reasons why, The only real reason to swap in this case would be fear of what you don't understand.
