Well two weeks ago i was out of town for work and saw a perfect candidate pop up on a facebook page and immediately went to work figuring out how to pick it up.
The truck in question is a 1969 Chevy SWB. It's got a 67 front and bed on it. It's going to be a good match for the Camaro!

Its not perfect, paint is decent driver which is what I wanted, and it's powered (currently) by a 350/700R4. Has 3.73 rear gears and 20" american racing "rallye style" wheels in 20x8 and 20x9.5.
I made the deal and flew to OK to inspect and pick up the truck just a little over a week later. Rented a car in OKC and picked up some car parts from JetHot while I was there. Drove down to Duncan and saw it for the first time. It was love at first sight.

I did the deal and started my 450mi drive back home. It was a quick turnaround given I was scheduled to go offshore the following day and had dogs that needed to be let out!
Fueled up and ready to go!
Welcome to Texas!

One good thing on the way back was after a full tank of 75mph cruising with some vicious side winds as well as some tail wind, It manged to get 17.3mpg!

OK enough with the photo-whoring,now with the build plans!!!
Driveline:
LY6/6L90e is the current engine in mind. Have some prospects, we will see if still available when i'm back from offshore. With this I'll be moving the tank to the rear and removing it from the cab.
Suspension:
Looking for budget bag setup controlled with Accuair e-level kit.
For brakes I have my eyes on a Kore3 kit with C6 calipers and rotors. I have some interest in trying to make 5th gen camaro brakes and building my own brackets but we'll see how that goes.
On top of that I plan to re-do the wiring to update it a bit, some minor interior upgrades and a mild stereo. I want a nice, reliable cruiser that I can do some mild towing with.

As for it looking red, it's nearly identical in appearance to my 69 hugger orange camaro. Hugger orange is often called red in photos and it's a very red orange. Haven't had them side by side yet though, maybe next week. The other truck in the first post is faded original paint, this one has a "10yr old" paint job. it has flaws, but that'll make it easier to drive it places and park it without worrying about it.

I dont know if hugger orangethey used on camaros is the same as what was used on trucks, but my '72 was much more orange. I have a faded Light red truck now that looks somewhat orange, but side by side its night and day difference. Its really strange how they had such close colors back in the day!

Technically the trucks never had a "hugger orange" that was a camaro thing only. Looks like in 70 they had an "orange" and a "red orange" according to the color codes.
69 had a couple as well but was orange and flame red.
In any case, this truck i doubt was originally this color. I know it looks pretty damn close to my factory hugger orange 69

That 72 looks great. 71-2 are my favorite years, but this one fit most the criteria and didn't need paint! 67 fronts are my second favorite

So, looking on my laptop your truck looks orange! On my phone it's more red, must be a phone thing, because both your Camaro and truck are close to what mine was. They did have Hugger Orange on trucks though, at least that's what the option stickers list it as, the paint store books and brochures called it by another name. Killer looking Camaro, what's the specs on it?

Man that is AWESOME i didn't know HO was a factory color on trucks. Not by name anyway. Cool to learn. orange/white is my favorite combo by a long shot on these. Solid orange will work for now.
I'm trying to get back and get started, got people telling me to leave it alone and just drive it. I plan to do that WHILE i collect parts for the build. Wont be a record setting pace, but i'm hoping it has LS power and bags by next summer (if not sooner).

Glad to see you like the orange & white scheme too. That other truck seemed to stand out with the white top and lower trim. Awful rims though IMHO.
I look forward to seeing the progress once you start.

I'm about 70% done reassembling my 68 C10
C5 brakes in the front. 1997 discs in the rear.
Built LS1/T56 magnum drive train. 12 bolt with Aburn posi and Moser axles drilled for 4.75" bolt pattern and they turned down the axle flange to match the disc brake rotor.
Rewired it completely. I took the gas tank out of the cab. I'm going to use a 69 Camaro gas tank in the back. Gas filler thru the flip down license plate in the bumper.
Something I just ran into was the drive shaft. I did a 4/6 drop and I had a 3.5" drive shaft made. When I installed the drive shaft the hole in the trailing arm cross member needed clearancing.
Looks like you have a good project.

I plan to rewire mine down the road as well. Did it in the camaro and it got pretty easy towards the end. Wiring it like factory with an "update" kit should be a breeze.
As for the gas tank, I dont like how far down the muscle car tanks sit in these. I want mine to be up closer to the bed and the "hidden hitch" i plan to use will occupy the same space and the license plate area as is. We did toy with the idea of a 69 tank and fill through plate though.
As for the DS hitting the crossmember, member on here A-dub (maybe Adub) had the same issue on his bagged C10. He clearanced it. T56 puts the DS a little higher than the auto and a bigger OD driveshaft doesn't help. They do sell aftermarket ones i'm told with more clearance.
Thanks man, I plan to!

It's been my first truck project.
I had the LS1/T56 from my 1999 E36 swap project. It's a great swap.
I used the 95 Camaro rear disc brakes because they have the built in e-brakes.
On my 67 Nova with a 9" ford rear end I used Tobin's C5 kit with the internal e-brake. Worked well. Tobin is outstanding.
No plans to tow anything with my C10. Might put some thing in the box carefully wrapped in a quilt to prevent damage to the wood bed.
Again have fun with your project.
