Default Duel to single fan wiring

I’m going to a set up with a single fan, single speed, with one relay from the original duel fan set up. There is a high and low speed signal wire, that supplies ground to activate the relay. My question is can I join those two wires togeather to the single relay? Or just the low and leave the high not connected or visa versa? Also if I hook them together could it be bad that the wire that is not actively grounded gets ground back to the pcm?

You can not tie them together, it will set off a code on the pcm. You can use the low and have the high tuned out or hook a relay to the high fan control to dummy it out so you don't get an open circuit on fan 2.

I actually just posted this same question on the HP Tuners forum and this was the response that I got from one of the members there:

Go to the system>fans tab, set the drop down for fan type to aux fans, and set the fan 1 on off temp to the speeds you want them at.

As for wiring with the AC if you run a trinary switch instead of a binary, you can get away with a single relay since you can have the trinary send a ground to trigger the relay just like PCM does. If you want to use just the binary switch then you will need a second relay to reverse the +12v signal that used to trigger the compressor clutch.
Since this is in a 68 Camaro I'm assuming you are either using a modified stock GM harness or an aftermarket. Both would usually have the fan wiring incorporated it them with 3 relays controlling 2 fans where they either both run low speed or both run high speed. That's why they use 3 relays to either configure them in either a parallel circuit or series circuit. If you don't have any fan wiring then just wire in a single relay control to the fan 1 PCM trigger output and set the temps for fan 1 accordingly. Make sure the relay can handle the current draw of the fan and fuse the circuit accordingly. You can wire in a 2nd relay triggered off the A/C compressor to turn the fan on with A/C.
I haven't tested it, but from what I understand the AUX setting on HP tuners is for a single fan output.

Could a diode be wired in the high speed and wire them togeather. Instead of wiring a dead relay.

Nope, you can not tie the two together. The PCM will see a non commanded ground on one fan or the other and throw a code.

So what I’m hearing is a tune out or dummy relay are my only two options. Seeing as how iv already sent my pcm out for a tune. I guess a dummy relay it is.

Wire in the high speed, not the low, using the single wire/relay.

You can change the setting in the PCM.

What would happen if I wired each relay and wired both power outputs together to the fan.
