Section A was cut out of the firewall. Section B was moved over to where section A was because it had an indentation to it that matched the rest of the firewall. This section was moved over to make panel C come all the way over to the inner fender panel. This makes the firewall more "symmetrical". It would look odd to me if this step wasn't performed. Study the pics with the inner fenders in place for a better understanding
