Default Ls swap C3 Vette!

Hi everyone, my wife broth a 77 C3 last year, L48 with TH350. I broth a 1999 pick up, 5.3l with 4l60. The plan was to swap that Powertrain in the C3 for cheap. My wife use the car on summer time to go to work 1 or 2 time per week and use it for weekend I-cream car. The plan is to make car better daily driver for her, fuel injected, O/D and bonus, more hp. The plan was to do it step be step and buy part is its absolutely need it but we found out that would be to much time consuming we deside to ask your help.

If you want to share your expérience with me it will help me grab the good parts before I pull the stock engine and trans from the car.

I want:
- to be able to go back to stock Powertrain and no leave no mark of swap in the car.
- power steering and alternator are the only to thing I need.

My concerns: engine mount, transmission cross
member, engine dress up, intake manifold, exhaust manifold or headers and all the thing I forgot.....

I’m a Mecanic and no how to weld but sometime with the right part is wort it to pay to save a lot of time.

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like you've got many of the parts you'll need in the current truck.

First thing that comes to mind is that the truck intake manifold is usually very tall. You may need to to get a lower one.
The truck oil pan is very deep, you may want to consider an F body oil pan.
The truck alternator rides very high, you'll probably need to relocate it.
You'll probably need to modify the trans cross member.

Me personally, I would have no problem leaving marks of the swap. The 77 is not one of the highly valued Vettes.

Are you keeping the heater?

Yes I will keep the heather, where I live (QC) heather is more important then a/c. 😉

There will be a clearance issue with heater hoses coming out of the water pump and the upper control arm, but there are workarounds.

Also you will need to figure something out with the speedo. 4l60e does not have a speedo cable.

Mine was a 68 with a manual trans but most will apply.
Things to swap:
LS1 intake, you're injectors might work if you remove plastic tips and make a custom hold down. Otherwise you can use LS1 injectors and pigtails.
Modify water pump. 02 Corvette Z05 exhaust, flows as good as headers
02 batwing oil pan, mush cheaper than the f body.
There's a pic of a cable wo electronic tach, not sure if 77 had an electric.
Your crossmember is removable.
The 1" setback plates put the engine REALLY close to the trans tunnel, I went with the standard plates.
Accessory brackets in all 3 spacings available from holley.

Yep.... here's another. Kept most of stock steering but used ls pump. Heat hose and power steering puller work arounds aren't bad. Some motor mounts allow to move engine forward or stock location.
