Have you tried to connect them? The exterexternal slave will not work with stock truck pan.
i have the same trans, and am looking for different way to make this combo work, might try a universal hydraulic throwout bearing

I have not tried to mate them together yet it seems odd that it wont mate up and work I thought there was same amount of room with old style motor and the ls but I do not know I do know the nv3500 also had an internal throw out bearing in the later ones.

Hey guys
Any luck? I am dropping an NV3500 out of an 02 Silverado 4X4 into my Scout with a 5.3L. I checked out RockAuto and naturally found all the clutch parts for the 4.3L that was in the Silverado, but have similar concerns as above since I am not using a 4.3 but a 5.3.

Thanks

OOPS, a 4.3 is a cut down Gen I small block. You need to find the parts for a 4.8/5.3 install.

You need to use the 03 silverado 1500 4.8 parts, as I specified in the other thread. The 4WD
transmissions from 02 and 03 are the same, as per the part numbers on Rockauto. Just make
sure all clutch parts are from the same year, in this case, 2003. GM didn't offer the NV3500
with the 5.3, I think after 2001, I don't know why Rockauto even has a listing for that.

Thanks Bruce 88. I followed your advice earlier, but when I saw you included 4.8, I thought you misunderstood. My mistake. Good stuff! Really don't want to get a bunch of parts that don't fit and appreciate your help

Here is the flywheel i used from a 2004 2500 6.0 and i also used the clutch from the same vehicle. My trans has the internal slave so ia not sure about that setup.

http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/index.php has a ton of info on your swap.

I have put an older style (90-93 I believe)nv3500 with an external slave cylinder behind 2 4.8s, with no issues with the stock oil pan. One in a 94 k2500, and the other in a 70 c10.
here is a parts list

I used the 1991 Chevy K1500 style slave cylinder Napa part # 73119. It uses I believe 12mm bubble flare fittings

The flywheel I used is the Sachs nfw1050

pilot bearing Napa # 6302vsp43

clutch kit including throw out bearing is for older style Chevy I think one of the kit #s is 1104122( you have to drill out 3 of the pressure plate holes to the larger 10mm size bolts)

jegs # 601015 ls flywheel bolts

jegs arp # 134-2203 clutch bolts

here’s a pic of the slave cylinder figment with the truck pan and stock oil level sensor.

I used the same flywheel. I just checked on rock auto and they still carry that flywheel but the price has doubled.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/sa...,flywheel,5348 Still not a bad price.
